Congrats you two, it's a cloudy, cold day over here and it helps to have some good news :) Best of luck, and have tons of fun, and all that other good stuff  [smiley=smitten.gif]

And good luck to you, Chi, on your move--I'm insanely jealous, but I love hearing happy endings to visa stories  :D

Hope I'm not intruding...

I wanted to join in the congratulations!  How exciting for you, Patty!

I was reading about having PMS, while returning from a trip to the UK...I can so relate!  The first year DF and I dated, I would go to the UK every other month for a few days and my return always coincided with PMS...not good.  I always went into a deep sadness as soon as I got back and couldn't function for a day, but then it's right back on track, b/c there's no other choice.

DF is coming the weekend of April 24th, so we can put a deposit on a ceremony/reception site.  Then I go there in May to shop for engagement rings! :)

Hello everyone. And welcome Cella!

Patty - CONGRATULATIONS!!! It's finally here, can you believe it?? I hope you have the best day ever!

Well, I am officially sick with a head cold. I have tried a variety of medicines and vitamins - hoping the latest attempt with sudafed does the trick. I really don't think all the people I will be sitting next to on the planes tomorrow want me sniffling and snorting and breathing though my mouth while trying to sleep right next to them. I sure don't want that anyway. So fingers crossed. And, it took me about 5 hours, several re-arrangements, and multiple body tests on the wii fit to pack and weigh my luggage. Turns out I'm going to have to pay to bring a third suitcase (which will be about all I have left in my bank account at the moment) :(. And each of the bags is at the weight limit (possibly a pound or two over - so hopefully they let that slide). I've never gotten charged extra for overweight baggage before, but I'm being a bit paranoid about it this time. So of course circumstances could be a little more ideal to go see my husband for the first time since Christmas (i.e. more money, less cold), but at least I get to see him. I'm trying not to think too much about how much I am going to miss my family and the familiarity and my independence... trying to think about all the positives.

YAY Patty & Ian!  Congratulations!! :)

Chi, I hope it's not the same thing I have..I'm still recovering (9 days later), and it's being referred to as "the plague" at the office.  I finally feel like I can at least sit upright for most of the day without passing out, but I'm only about 75% back to normal, and word at the office is I still have a few more days until I'm all better.  I hope you have a much gentler, and quicker version!

I went home to my parents' house this weekend for special dinner in honor of my stepdad, and FINALLY got the rest of the paperwork I need for citizenship!  Now I just have to gather it all into one envelope, figure out what to tell the embassy people re: the fee (since I don't know exactly how much it is, I can't just hand them a check, and I don't want to mail them my credit card info, for obvious reasons...I'm hoping they'll be cool with a simple "I'm happy to pay you, call me for the CC info" statement).  Then it's just a matter of waiting however many weeks/months until they process everything.

I hope everyone else is doing well..not much here to report, other than the plague.  Lots of bed/couch rest, kleenex, and fluids for me...

Chi and equestrianerd, so sorry you both are sick...I too had the "plague" a months ago and after 2 rounds of antibiotics and a couple weeks, I got over it...I was miserable.  Hope you are back to 100% soon.

Chi, how exciting!  You'rdegoing to see hubby soon...you should be ok with your luggage...I've been over the weight limit by a couple lbs. and wasn't charged.  I hope it's not too bad traveling with your head cold.

equestrianerd, good luck with the citizenship application process...hope it goes smoothly and quickly.

Chi, I'm so sorry you're sick.  I seem to have a knack for getting sick right before big trips, so I feel your pain.  Just before I went back to Seattle to apply for my spousal, I got the hugest head cold and I was that pathetic sick person on the plane nobody wanted to sit next to.  I was sooooo miserable!  Now I leave for a three-week work trip tomorrow and I've got a sore throat and a bit of congestion.  I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't get any worse, but my track record says otherwise.

I'm not sure what airline you're flying, but sometimes they're surprisingly lenient.  Hopefully, you'll get a nice person at the check-in counter.  Safe travels!!!

*sigh*

I had a small break down this morning crying because I don't want to leave and Tim doesn't want me to leave, but we have no options whatsoever short of jumping the gun and getting married. ARGH!  I mean, I want to get married, but I'd be more than happy if we could just live together, too.  Know what I mean?

Chi - I imagine you have left already, but safe travels!!  Update us when you can.

Just out of sheer nosy curiosity, Devinshire, what kind of work do you do that you have a THREE week trip?

I'm a tour manager.  I go on holidays with goups of (mostly older) American travelers and make sure things go smoothly for them.  It's a cool job because I get to travel, but it's really hard work, too...a lot of silly questions and not much rest!  I speak Russian, which helps me in the countries of the former Soviet Union, but not so much in Iran, which is where I'm going tomorrow - first tour of the season!

*hugs*

The week before I left I would do that when Steve got home from work, and I'd sit there and remind myself that in a week I wouldn't be able to be there *right* when he walked in the door, and I wouldn't have a cup of tea waiting for him. It just plain sucks :( And it is a weird position for us, where you'd be perfectly happy to live together but you can't  :-[ At first I wasn't really sure when me and Steve would get married, but we both realized it was what we wanted anyway, and it would end up getting us closer together in the long run--he was planning on coming to the US in May for my birthday, so we just figured it'd be a good time to tie the knot. Not a lot of real deliberate thought put into the date, definitely not as much as the decision to get married in the first place.
