I'll have a look for you on LJ then, I'm haut_rian :)

Steve is a First Line Manager for DHL, they deal with contracts with places like Tesco, CBS, etc instead of normal DHL courier services. He coordinates all their drivers to get to their destinations on the night shift, like when he used to send the CBS drivers to the London Underground to change over the glass adverts. He likes his job well enough, he's been there 10 yrs now and is comfortable where he's at, and he's valuable enough that they need him to stay on (they call him in the middle of the night to sort stuff out even), so I think we'll be okay.

I have about $300 dollars left after my tax refund, I've been trying to keep on top of my student loan payments, and I have a very generous mom who is way too nice to me and helps me out  :-\\\\ Steve has some savings put away as well from selling his house last year, and that's good since if we had to rely on me, we'd be a bit screwed :(

Becca I am sorry you had to come home...but I love the fact that Tim's family loves you as much as Tim...that is a great thing and you and him will be together before you know it...I am hoping that all the ladies on this thread are with their partners soon enough...

you are right that it would have been easy to just walk right out of the airport and just go back to the way you were...but you are right you have to do everything by the book...that is the only way to go...

Patty ...I am soo happy for you and Ian and can't wait for you to come over...

Beth how was Memphis?

Jamie are you behaving yourself lol  (I will give you a call Friday lady...I am getting ready for our dinner guests tonight lol)

Carey and Brittany how are things going?

Chi Chi how are you adjusting?

What is up kittenfish?

how are all you other ladies?

I got a box from home today with an easter plate and easter candy and peanut butter and jelly and I am sooo excited lol....I am such a sap lol

I'm in a similar situation, as you ladies.  Both my me and my DF make enough to support a family of 4 on either of our incomes, but I will be leaving mine, obviously to move to the UK and DF has said that I can stay home and decide what I really want to be when I grow up!  ;D  ;)

We work for the same company, but for different subsidiaries...I will most likley be able to get a job with the UK branch of my company, where he works, If I want to. I would like to take some time off though...3 months or so.  I thought about returning to school to do something I really want to do, like something in dietetics or nutrition, but I am still paying off my loans from school...not sure I want to add to that loan!

This. I'm still paying off my loans when I became a certified medical assistant, so I'm not keen on jumping on another loan :( My fiance is looking for ways for us to just pay the stupid thing off if we can, since I really don't want to fiddle with it for the next 3 years or so ($50/month, still have about 2k on it), so we'll see.

I'm hoping that after some menial jobs I can maybe slide into the NHS since I do have my medical assisting background--I'm good at doing the administrative work if that's what they need, since I really don't expect to do anything clinical. My school didn't do me any favors either, I really hate putting it on my CV but I gotta.

What is up kittenfish?

I'm doing alright I suppose--roughly 40 days until Steve flies in, then about a week later we'll get married. And I don't really have anything to plan, the courthouse is scheduled, that's all I needed to do :P So I'm mainly just poking around, because my plans on finding more temp work have been very unsuccessful as of late--we don't have a ton of permanent jobs floating around, so people are hanging onto their temp jobs for dear life, and they've cut out the shift I used to work so now everyone is clawing over each other for the few spots left on days  :-\\\\

That would be good if you could do something with the NHS with your background...I'm sure you should be able to find something.

My student loan is $36,000!  :o  I put myself through school for 9 years...got my MBA. It was worth it, but now I'll be paying that off until I am at the pearly gates!  ;D

DF and I have a plan to pay it off, but it's the last thing we will be paying off, as it has the lowest payment.  First is to sell my house and hopefully make enough on it to pay that loan off.

40 days isn't long at all!  Did I tell you yet that I am so jealous that you are marrying so soon!  I have to wait until November...but at least DF will be here later this month to look for a place to have the wedding.

hi everyone!

have been sick with an awful tonsil infection and had a busy week with work and school...not sure if i've mentioned this before but i work full-time in university administration, teach college one night a week, and am enrolled in two grad classes right now to try to finish up my second master's degree before i move.  i'm so overworked these days and it seems to be catching up to me.

i'm so looking forward to finally getting to the uk in july so i can have some time off to write and get settled!!

any good plans for the weekend?  mine looks to be filled with work and hopefully lots of rest beyond that!

lily, so sorry that you aren't feeling well.  :(  Sounds like you have a full plate right now...try to get some rest in there.

Mirrajay, those are the best weekend plans ever.  How exciting!

I don't have much planned...off tomorrow, so will drop daughter at my parents and then go to the gym.  Stop at the store to get her Easter stuff, for her basket.  Then pick daughter up and take her to see Hannah Montana, The Movie!  ::)

I don't have plan Sat, but Sunday it's chruch then to dinner with my parents.  Nothing too exciting!

Next weekend I am going shopping for wedding dresses though!  ;D

have a great time with david, mirra!

cella: how exciting!  do you have any idea what kind of wedding dress you're looking for?

i have to make my way to a jewelry store at some point to double check my ring size, per my boyfriend's request.  i went in before but i am not sure i feel comfortable with the size they told me...it seemed pretty tight.  the woman swears i would want an engagement ring to be that tight, so i guess i'll go for the second opinion and see what they say.  i'm also a bit worried about translating my us size to a uk size, since david is buying the ring in london.

I want something simple, but elegant.  My wedding colors are red and black.  I would love to find a nice dress with a red sash or something red on it, as long as it is simple.  I had an idea today that I should do a 50's themed wedding, but then I thought that would take more effort than just going with a simple, but elegant wedding.  I just want the planning to be as easy as possible.

I hear you about the ring size....I went and had mine measured and I thought I was a size 3 1/2, but it turns out I'm more of a size 5.  Glad I had that checked.  I have no clue how to translate that to UK sizes.  We are supposed to go shoping for rings in the London in May!  I agree that you wouldn't want the engagement ring too tight, so best to get a second opinion.

Ok, I'm headed to the park for a run...enjoy the rest of your days ladies!  :)

I went a half size down when I told David my ring size.  This was suggest by the person at the jewlery store, so it seems like they are all telling us the same thing.  I have a very strange fear of getting my circulation cut off, so I walked around with the fake ring thing on my finger for awhile and it was tighter than my other rings, but not uncomfortable at all. You can find size charts online that have the UK equivilents to the US sizes.  All I know is a 5 is a J1/2 :)

I'm hoping I'll find luck with the NHS, but I won't hang my hat on it just yet :( The thing keeping me back here is my lack of experience, but it's hard to remedy when no one will hire you *head explodes* Thankfully my schooling was only 10k, and 4k of it was in grants, and my mom put out 3k (yay selling house money!), so I ended up with almost 3k in loans in the end.

I'm only marrying so soon because I don't plan on having anything beyond the courthouse ceremony :P It fits into Steve's visit that he was planning in May well before he asked me to marry him, and then we'll have some sort of get-together when I come to the UK. His mates are mad because they can't crash our wedding, so I guess he owes them a pint to make up for it :) I don't even have a wedding ring yet, we'll sort that out when he flies in, there's plenty of jewelry stores to poke around in that I know carry my size (9-9 1/2) and we'll have a week before we can get married anyway.

As for this weekend, I don't think I'm even doing anything for Easter  :-\\\\ Just hanging out online with Steve I guess, not much else to do :P I wish I could be there right now, he's watching Bones at the moment, so he's not online but he left his webcam running out of habit, and it sucks sitting here being able to watch the webcam but being so far away >.<

I just gave Tim a ring of mine that fit pretty well and he took it into the jeweler's and they figured out the UK size when he bought me the ring I got on Christmas.

And if one more person asks me if it's an engagement ring, I might pull my hair out.

98 days til he's here.  feels so far away.
