Josy, are you enjoying this snow storm as much as I am?! I went to the grocery store earlier and came out and there was almost half an inch on my car.  I was only in the store for about a half hour.  So exciting for me after spending months in DC with fairly stable/warm weather.

It's PERFECT weather for a bowl of chili, which is exactly what I made tonight  :) My dad's gonna love me when he gets in from work.

9 days till Ireland! Down to the single digits!

I usually would have started to pack by now, but my dad is buying me new luggage for Christmas (our celebration will be on Saturday), so I cant start until then!  I am putting things aside though so I dont dirty them.  And I bought super cute undies  (er.. pants) tonight at Target.  I do have a list of my outfits for the week though to ensure I dont forget anything (I'm SO lame!)  Its nice to not have to bring some things because I already have them there (toothbrush, hair dyer, pajamas, shampoo, etc).
I will be on a plane one week from right now headed to my happy place :)

You girls be careful in that ice and snow!!

Great....I'm doomed as well. lol

Although, a "rom-com" that has realistic expectations is "In Good Company" because the guy doesn't actually get the girl in the end, and it's still a good film.

Thanks for sharing that article, AngloKitty! :)

Carey, I would be packing as well if I were you...lol.  I planned outfits for weeks on end before I went to England.

Beth, yay!  3 days left!  *dances for ya*

Josy, it's snowing here right now in Ohio....the plow like, ripped down the street and I don't even know if he put any salt down?!

Becca....stuck on a train loo?!  Goodness!

Annndd......I'm so tired that I can't sleep..lol.  So I'm sprawled out on the couch watching Coupling...and they just said "con-dom"  Bah!

I love "Coupling" great show....you gotta love the snow...

Can't wait to hear about Becca's adventure....

I am just like all you ladies I make lots of lists so I don't forget anything when I go away...I am always afraid I am going to forget something...

Oh Patty I am sorry you are so tired you can't sleep...maybe you should get some tylenol pm...it helps you go to sleep naturally and doesn't make you tired...I used it the few weeks before I went over to England for 6 months ...I was stressed out and couldn't sleep and it was catching up with me. So I used it a few times and it helped...I hope things get better for you....

I think since we didn't pick a word of the day we shall all think of one for tomorrow....

is everyone ready for the holidays?

Josy, I'm voting for "whilst." I hear it said commonly from Brits, but you never hear it here. To my ears, it sounds so quaint! LOL

Hmmm.. I wonder why Jamie and Alan haven't checked in again today?? ;) ;D

Beth hahaha we have been busy eeer..."unpacking" LOL actaully I slept a lot yesterday I woke up at 4:30 this morning and have been wide awake ever since...my clock is waaay off:)

Carey 7 days!!!! WOOOWHOOOO

I'm as ready for the holiday's as I'll ever be I suppose:)

It's surprisingly warm here right now can't believe it.  Everyone has been asking how is the cold for you...I'm like well seeing as how it was -30 with windchill the morning I left it's not so bad here.  One thing I've noticed that maybe slightly difficult to get used to is that the "sun" doesn't come up until after 8:30..and then gets dark around 4ish so thats kind of weird!

Tonight we are going to play pool he's on a league.  So I will be meeting the rest of his friends that I haven't met yet.  Hopefully I'm sweet and charming lol

well night night for you ladies I think I'm gonna surpise him with coffee and breakfast in bed mmmmmm

winter weather can be depressing enough but you are right about trying to get used to having it dark for most of the day...it makes the days seem longer...

you sound very happy...and of course you will be sweet and charming....all of us ladies who watch romantic movies are sweet and charming lol

Beth "whilst" is a good word...so the new Brit word for today is "whilst"...for those of you just joining the thread...we pick a brit word a day and then use it in a sentence to try to get ourselves ready for when we are finally living over there...so bring on the sentences

I have to brave the post office one more time and then I am done for the holiday season...I don't like the post office at Christmas

I think I'll respond whilst (see!) I sip on my coffee... :p  Good choice, Beth!

Jamie, glad things are going well for you.  It'll take a bit I'm sure for you to adjust to the difference and whatnot, but yeah, even though it's cold in England, I think America can get colder sometimes..lol.  But I'm sure you'll be wondering at the pool league.

And Carey....now you only have 6 days!

Josy, I still have to go to the post office as well, but I'm afraid to.  Usually this time of year there's only like, one worker working at the desk, and a line out the door.  Bah.  Good luck!

And I have NO motivation to actually get in the shower and get ready for work today.  I wish I would've had today off instead of tomorrow...lol.

How are your days going, everyone?

Patty I had to wait in hour in line on Monday at the post office and when I got there...there were 2 workers and then the one went on lunch break...it is the holidays you think they would be fully staffed...lol  Well I am going to have to suck it up and brave it today I guess if I want this package to get out.

Jamie can't wait to hear about your time at the pool league

my day is ok we are having our Christmas potluck...so no one feels like working lol

I am glad to see I am not the only one who makes lists of outfits - I've always wanted a twin Brittany!

Remember when I mentioned that my boss told me that when I get defensive I cop a British accent? Well, I told a few people that and asked them to point it out to me when I sound British and its happening all the time!!  The thing that I just realized this morning whilst(!!) thinking about this is that people are viewing it as a negative or pretentious thing, like British accents always imply that someone is stuck up and that is really starting to bother me!  If I copped a Southern American accent, no one would think it was something I should work on correcting.  Or even a Sarah Palin accent!  I am sure I am being too sensitive, but hmph - I can have a fake British accent if I want one!

Have fun tonight Jamie!  I have no doubts about the sweet and charming part :)

Today is our Christmas lunch do (another great british word - "do") and then I'm going to see Neil Diamond tonight!  woo!

Okay, the loo story...

Tim and I were taking the train from Rainhill to Blackpool, and we arrived at the station too late for me to use the toilet there, so I figured I'd use the one on the train. For those of you who aren't familiar with UK train toilets, they have buttons to press to open the door, shut the door, and lock the door. It's all done electronically. I went to leave the toilet and I pressed the "open/unlock" button and the door barely moved a few centimeters.  So, I tried again.  Nothing. I pressed the close button, re-locked the door, and pressed open...nothing.  So I banged on the door and shouted "Help! The toilet door won't open!" and I guess someone got the conductor (Tim was all the way in the back of the train so he wouldn't have heard me).  The conductor tried to pry open the door with no luck, and had the driver re-set the door...it still would't open, so the conductor had to put all his weight behind the door and managed to pull/push it open far enough for me to sneak out!

Oh goodness, Becca...I probably would've freaked out, had some sort of panic attack or something..lol.

So we had our Christmas do today as well.  They gave away prizes.  I wanted the towel set, but didn't win it.  Oh well.  And I realised..."I want towels?  Goodness....I must be getting older!" lol

How's everyone's evening going?  Carey, hope you're enjoying Neil Diamond "SWEEEETTTT CAROLINE 'BAH BAH BAH!'" :)
