Jamie - I do that ALL the time!  That is why I spend most of my time riding in cars looking out the side window rather than the front.  I am a jumpy mess especially when David thinks he needs to drive all fast in his fancy car... silly boys.

Brittany - welcome to the pity party, although I'm sad you have a place in it.  This much be a terrible time for your BF and my thoughts are with him. He will be very happy to have you there in 7 (?) days!  Why has your family abandoned holiday traditions?? Do you know of any fun traditions they have in NI that you could adopt?  I got the stupidest smile on my face when I read that about starting new traditions together... what a wonderful thing to look forward to :)

Josy - I am sorry that you havent had much contact with Jason recently. I am proud of you that you can put up with that and realize that its just HIM being him, rather than him not wanting to talk to you or anything. You have the best attitude knowing that the hard times will pass. Have you sent your gifts to him yet?  or even more important, have you recieved any gifts? :)

Anna - That is a massive guilt trip.  How terrible!  My mom was a lot more accepting once she met him, so maybe your mom will be too. *fingers crossed*

Random peice of information: I am flying through Toronto on my way to England and I assumed that I would have to recheck my luggage and go thru security again as you normally do when you enter a new country, but not in Canada! They will check my bags all the way through to England. Woo!  I think thats actually just USA thing, in case anyone was ever wondering.

My boss bought me some wine for Christmas and gave it to me this morning... isnt it a rule that I can crack that open at 11am?  Right??   :D

Carey- I think the rule is, you HAVE to open it by 11am! :P And pass the bottle over here, please! ;D

I'm sorry you ladies are having it tough lately. Believe me when I say I can understand some of what you're feeling. It sucks big time! But... just remember that you all have lights at the end of the tunnels- upcoming visits (don't think of coming back yet, Carey! Gotta enjoy all the time together without worrying about that part!), weddings, etc... Like someone said elsewhere, once it's over and you are together in the end, this will fade into distant memories! :)

Today's the last day of class so I will be able to post more. I'm so happy. I have tons to grade before the end of the day, but I want to get it done and grades put to bed so I can relax completely over the break! Anyway, lunch over! late to get the kids. Oops!

Aw that sounds lovely Jamie!!

LOL on "wee". It sounds like you are very happy. :)

Me, I think I'm full on sick. Gah. Freaking crap timing. I should be celebrating my first night of Christmas break from school. Instead I just want some more tea. Oh well...

Carey, did we ever get a concert report on Neil Diamond? Oh, and I meant to comment, I noticed your casual use of "whilst" in another thread today! ;D Good job on spreading the WOD!

Oh yeah spreading the WOD across all of UK-Y!  8)

I love that Jamie said "our house". I am so happy for both of you!

Wee is a marvelous word - I will use it for certain.  I should have taught my dog that word rather than pee-pee.  "Mirra, do you need to nip out for a wee?"  So much better than "Mirra, do you need to pee-pee".  Yes, Mirra is the dog, hence the screenname.  Maybe they are similar enough that she will know what I'm talking about.  I'll give it a go.

I am SICK too, Beth.  BLAST IT ALL! Booo!

Neil was good fun, I think I injured my shoulder dancing. Damn I'm old.

Oh goodness, ladies.....PLEASE do take care of yourselves.  And, in regards to being sick, we MUST get used to saying "ill" instead.  lol  Ian scolds me EVERY time I say "I'm sick" then he chimes in with his "No, you're ILL!"

And Jamie, I too love that you said "our house."  I'm VERY happy for you and Alan.  Maybe take photos of the tree?  I love Christmas trees.

Question just came to mind, even if I feel silly asking..

....do you ladies ever watch BBC because you miss England and hearing the accent?  I've been watching the Beeb more often lately because of missing everything.  lol  Does that make me odd?

No. I have the digital plus package on cable just so I can get that channel! lol

And I thought about the sick vs. ill thing when I typed it! Today I made the ol' "pants vs. trousers" mistake. That one gets me every time!

lol...I make that mistake as well.  It'll take awhile to get used to it.  I'm still working pronouncing mirror as "mirr-or" and not "meer".....and here we have to learn whole new words?! :p

Well, regardless.....hope you feel better, Beth...

...and feel better as well, Carey!

I DO say "mirr-or" and my boyfriend tells me I say "mee-roar", but I'm not sure how else to say it! Apparently he says it differently, but I can't see to tell the difference....

strange.

To me, sick and ill are two different things. I use "ill" if I'm throwing up, sick if I've got a cold.

Me too Becca.  I have a cold, so I am sick.  We need some Brits to set the record straight for us.  Alan???

David makes fun of how I say vehicle.  He exaggerates it all the time and says I say "vuh-he-ickle" and I most certainly do not!  Its "vee-hickle".. how else could it be said??

And, I dont get BBC, but I do listen to British radio for that same reason, Patty.  Its silly, but I like to hear the weather and traffic and sorta feel like they pertain to me (which of course they do not).  But I sure have learned that there always seems to be trouble with the Blackwall Tunnel during rush hours. :)

I'm starting to get scared that my gifts aren't good enough and that hes going to buy me way better stuff than I bought him.  The things hes been hinting at are much more expensive than what I purchased.  Oi.  I always find something to stress about.  :-[

I am sorry everyone is feeling "poorly" (that is another british word I hear a lot)...try to stay well all of you...lots of tea, orange juice, and rest....

wow you danced so hard Carey you hurt your shoulder lol that is my kind of dancer....

Jaime and Alan I am sooo very happy for you...and Jamie I hope you made it to the loo in time to wee

Patty that wasn't a silly question I always end up watching the BBC or just a random british movie to hear the accent or when certain things in movies remind me of Jason and his accent...I was switching around today and turned on PS I Love you...I wish someone was here to stop me...I sobbed like a baby....hehe I am such a sap...and I don't know how many times I have seen it.

A good Christmas special that has a bit of romance and is very very funny is the Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special from 2006...you ladies might want to check that out...I highley reccomend it

Yeah I haven't heard from Jason...but like I said he must be very busy...If he was mad at me for anything I am sure he would have told me by now...but it is difficult not hearing from him...when I know for him it is easier if we don't talk often...especially when he misses me...but I need the constant contact with him...so we are at a crossroads with this...but I am sure it will all work out in the end...I sent him a card and a gift...but I haven't gotten a card or a gift yet....we shall see...

Carey with gifts it is the thought that counts...and you are paying to fly over to England to be with him for Christmas...and you got him gifts...you are going to be fine...don't panic it isn't about who spends more...it is the thought..and I am sure all he wants is you...so you are gift enough....

Tim's uncle passed away yesterday :(

We went and visited him before our weekend away last week and from what Tim's dad told us, he really enjoyed our visit - getting out all his old (ORIGINAL!) Beatles 45s and playing them for us seemed to perk him up, so at least he had a few fun moments in the end.

This means, of course, attending a funeral.  Something tells me that the short skirts I brought along to tease Tim with just aren't going to cut it for a funeral, eh?  So, I checked out ASDA's website and Debinham's and found these items:

This shirt: http://direct.asda.com/Lace-Sleeve-Top/GEM3226,default,pd.html
with this skirt: http://direct.asda.com/Ruffle-Skirt/GEM2567,default,pd.html

this top: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_17655_726513_-1
with this skirt: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_17642_826789_-1

We don't know when the funeral will be, so I can't order from the websites, I'll have to go to the stores and pray I can find this stuff.  I'm thinking I might do the weekly groceries at ASDA tomorrow so  Ican see what they have, and then if there's nothing I like, head to Debenham's.  I'd rather get the ASDA stuff since Tim's the one who will be paying for the clothes and I don't want to shove a large bill on him, but I don't know if this is stuff they have in store, or just online.

Sorry to hear about Tim's Uncle, Becca.   I am sure you will be able to find something appropriate for a funeral at either of those places.

I got my new luggage yesterday and started packing.  Yay.

I have to run something by you girls:  Last night, David called me from a pub where he and his friends and one of his friends girlfriends were having a few drinks and the girlfriend wanted to talk to me.  I noticed that when speaking to her, I was VERY self conscious of my accent, and even word selection.  When I speak to his guy friends, I've never felt this way before...  Why is it that girls are intimidating to us (or me at least)??   She was like "It will be so lovely to finally meet you..."  and I was thinking "ack!  It makes me panic to think about spending any time with you!!"

So sorry to hear about Tim's Uncle, Becca.  Thoughts of you, Tim, and his family are with me.  *hugs*

Carey, you'll be FINE!  Maybe you're a bit intimidated by English women because, well, we always hear that they're more critical of people and not as laid back as American girls.  Buuuttt.......that's not true.  You'll be fantastic. :)  And I'm glad to know you got everything packed!

Everyone surviving the cold though?  It's 8 degrees F here this morning...bah!  I can't wait until I move....it'll be cold in southern England, but not THIS cold.

Oh, Josy....heard from Jason yet?
