Thanks for asking, Shugga. I've just started my 4th week in the US and even though I've been good about going to Curves (they have a travel pass), my diet has been off the hook! I know I've put back on a few of the pounds I've lost, but it hasn't been too crazy. My jeans are back to fitting me normally when before I came over they were all getting baggy on me. It's really hard when I'm staying with my family and most of the visits with friends revolve around going out for meals. I'm looking forward to getting back to cooking healthy things when we're back home at the end of this week. I'm not bringing too much food back with me this time, probably just some Wheat Thins or Triscuits. I've managed to get in most of my cravings while I've been here!  :D

Shugga, I'm sure you'll have no problem knocking off that half stone you gained!

Sure B_More I was just curious how everyone was doing!! ;)  :) Like you said to me once you get back to UK an start exercising again & eating more healthier foods your weight will come again an your jeans will be baggy again.  ;)  :)

Oh Shugga that's ok, ya gotta live too ;-) and anyways you have excellent motivation and willpower so you will be fine! :-). I'm actually doing decent- I'm on some new meds and I can move and breathe with less pain! In between doctors appts (two months) I lost 8 lbs. But I fear traveling this week for work, 5 holiday parties, Christmas Day/Boxing Day + a trip home will throw me all off!

PB I know I gotta live I surely did live alot while we were on vacation an still some treats now that were back in the UK I'm dreading when I have to go off the sugar & junk food that isn't going to be pretty lol.  [smiley=shout.gif]  [smiley=mad.gif]  I'm not sure my motivation will be a grand as it was before our trip home in mid Nov my trainer an said she was worried about my motivation once I get back to the gym. Mainly cause she knew my driving force was to shock & awe my family with my weight loss  :o  now that's done with whats going to push me to my limits now?  ???

I'm doing OK, so far this year (since I started keeping track) I've lost 3st 8lbs. I still have a long way to go yet at get to my goal weight but I keep losing about 1-2lbs a week and I've not been exercising lately because I seemed to be more hungry and it was difficult to resist temptation. So I've been focusing on dieting instead and it's been slow, but steady progress.  :)

WebyJ I know all about being hungry after a workout so I make sure I have an apple or a small bag of almonds to tide me over till we get home an have dinner an after dinner I'm usually ok an I don't need anything else thankfully.  ;)  :)

It sounds like everyone is trying g to do what they can, but it's hard with holiday temptation....... ;) As PB says, you gotta live!  :)

This year has been really tough for me in terms of staying active sue to my kidneys and just trying to get back to work without passing out from exhaustion. I am hoping that in the new year, I can return to 50 - 75% of my old schedule. I'd like to get my fitness levels back up - I can really feel that I am not as fit as I was.  :-\\\\

Glad I am feeling healthier on the kidney front and I know the fitness thing will come back in time with perseverance.

I'm Glad your feeling better Mrs MLG I'm sure in time you will be back in fighting fit shape no problem just don't over do it though slow & steady wins the race as my trainer & Dietitian always say that to me!!  ;)  :)

hi Shugga,

7lbs isn't too bad a weight gain, I'm sure once you start back at the gym you'll just melt that off again.

Well some people know this and some people don't, but after spending half my life on a diet and the other half fighting to keep weight off, I got to the end of my rope with it all and decided to have Weight Loss Surgery, I've been researching it on and off for awhile now and been on the NHS track for about a year (psychiatric, pre-op testing and diet).

It's been about two weeks and with the pre-op diet I'm down about 25lbs and losing steadily.
I've been really feeling well, I was up and about almost immediately, my diabetes is gone and generally have had no pain or discomfort, right now i'm on soft foods and struggling to eat as much as I need, but it's not too bad. I've been pretty happy overall and glad I've made the decision to finally go for it :D

Cheesebiscuit I know 7lbs isn't alot an soon as I get back to the gym & healthier way of eating it will hopefully melt off but with PCOS things aren't as easy as they should be.  ::)  Congrats on your weight loss surgery & your weight loss so far!!   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Good luck with the surgery, cheesebiscuit! I hope everything goes well!

As for me, I've totally fallen off the wagon.  :-X :-[ I have no idea what I weigh now, as I haven't stepped on the scale in a while. I'm definitely the heaviest I have ever been, only five feet tall and over 10 stone and a size 14. But, I'm going to just wait until after Christmas to start working on it. I'm still a non-smoker, over 6 months off the tabs now, so I can at least feel good about one thing, health wise. But I've been drinking a bit more (I always do at the holidays!) and eating has been a bit out of control. I may try South Beach for a couple of weeks after Christmas to detox a bit from all the baked goods, or I may just start counting calories again. Hopefully I will be able to stay motivated then!

Don't beat yourself up Jewlz You have HAD ALOT Stress the past couple months so I can see why weight loss wouldn't be on your radar so give yourself a break for Pete's sake you will get back on the wagon when your good & ready!! Like you said you quit smoking an have been a non smoker for over 6 months that's something to brag about for sure!!  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Shugga - it's ok to have some down time...even if it does lead to a little weight gain.  I don't want to die hungry!

Cheesebiscuit - Good luck with everything...I'm glad to hear it's working out for you.  A friend of mine had weight loss surgery (I'm not sure exactly what kind) about 5 years ago and it literally saved his life.

For me, my weight loss kind of stalled but I knew it would as the last few pounds are always the hardest.  I've got 7lbs to get to my goal weight...which puts me into the 'healthy' weight for my height.  I'd like to try to lose 10-15 after that but I'll have to see how I feel about myself at that point as I have 'being too skinny' issues to battle also.

After losing nothing for an entire week, last week I bumped my water intake to 10-12 glasses a day and I shed 3lbs.  This week I'm maintaining that amount of water (which isn't easy for me) and I've thrown in an extra 30min cardio workout each day.  We'll see if it helps anything next week.

I'm looking forward to some yummy Christmas treats but not looking forward to weigh-ins!!

I have a weigh-in 3 days before Christmas & after a vacation that I'm still eating like I am still on vacation I must be crazy lol.  ;)  :D

Eastside I noticed when I bumped up my water intake I lost more weight but trying to keep up the routine was hard especially when I was having to use the LOO all the time like I was pregnant that was gruelling. my trainer said I would get used to it but after 3 1/2 weeks of it an no sign of it letting up I gave up the extra water routine.

My Dietitian doesn't want me losing anymore than 28 lbs + the weight I gained on vacation she said I wouldn't look healthy if I lost anymore weight for my height & body type. ;)  :)

That's the thing with me...part of me wants to be a certain weight on the scale but the other part of me knows that it's more about how I look (and feel)...I don't want to lose ALL my curves.  I can remember years of trying to gain some and I've embraced them now.  I want the Scarlett Johansson look...not the Kate Moss.

The water thing for me is hard because I normally only drink 2-3 glasses a day.  My theory is that the reason you lose more weight is not because of the actual water intake...but all the trips to the toilet burning extra calories.   :D   Also, just to make it even more fun for me ( ::)), I go up to the 3rd floor for the toilet...even though we have one on every floor.  Every step I just say to myself "extra calories, extra calories, extra calories".  I'm hoping to knock off a few more pounds this week and then gain them all back next week and start fresh in the New Year.

I like your thinking with shocking the family/friends back home.  We're going home next summer and I WILL be at my goal weight by then.  I'll be heavier than high school (I was unhappy with being too skinny then and never want to go back down that low) but I'm hoping to be much leaner and toned than they have seen me in about 8 years.   ;D

I kind of fell off the WW tracking given our holiday parties and such, but I actually feel pretty good these days.  I haven't weighed myself, and I don't think the numbers have shifted all that much, but I think I haven't been making TERRIBLE choices.

That said, totally had a burger last night.  but I think that's my one meal out this week, so I can manage.

I do so much better when I at least track though, so that's my goal for this week.  I don't care if I go over points and the like, but I do want to hold myself accountable.

I lost 20lbs this year (dec 09 - dec 10)! Yay! Now I just need to lose another 50lbs and I will be a "healthy" BMI. Or I suppose I could get taller. I think they're equally likely results this year.

I'm with you girls on the getting taller goals.  Perhaps we could all go in and buy an antique stretch rack (torture device).  I don't fancy the whole 'break your legs and have metal inserted' way of going about it.  I'm also not a big fan of those neck stretcher thingies.   :D

5'10 is a great height! I'd love to be a bit taller, I'm 5'8 and a bit :)

So I kind of hate posting in here because I'm a bit of a cheater (although if anyone else is considering surgery, it really isn't that easy! :) ) but thought I'd let you guys know it's my five week surgerversary today and I am 31lbs down, and about 45 including the pre-op diet, over two stones in five weeks - yay! :D

Well done! I have a friend back home who had the bypass surgery and I have no illusions about it being easy. And whether you cutting calories through willpower or inability to eat/digest, you still feel like you're starving. Best of luck  :)

I'm glad this is working for you. I've known people who have had the surgery and I know it isn't easy! Please don't call yourself a cheater!  :o :-*

I'm starting today. I know, it's cliché, but I seem to find it easier to start on New Year, I always feel like eating a bit lighter after all that rich food at Christmas, and I'm sick of drinking!  ;)

I've logged all my calories into Spark People, and I'm planning to go for a walk this afternoon, and also to drink lots of water. Yesterday, I bought some easy things to prepare for myself for dinner since DH will be starting back on late shift next week. Just need to be careful at work and stick to what I have brought from home, since my boss loves to bring loads of chocolate biscuits in, and on Fridays, they bring lots of delicious cakes into the staff room.  :-\\\\

Good luck to all of us trying to lose weight in the New Year.  I'm still overindulging, being on holiday  :-\\\\  I'm trying to not snack though and to not eat anything fried or too bad for me, but we'll see how my willpower goes  :-\\\\
