Oh no, you can't be!  You sent your stuff through NY, you must be from somewhere else!  I just thought that was so coincidental, 6:10 and everything.  I have a four-hour layover in Germany - weird!

I just wanted to touch base with everyone that made the move around the Aug/Sept/Oct months and see how everyone is doing.  Have you settled in?  Met any of the UKYers yet? Any Thanksgiving plans?  Where is everyone again?

I am in my last final days in Holland (I did my first semester in Utrecht) and will finally be moving to England in 10 days! I am so very excited!  I'll be in Preston (just north of Manchester) and have already cooked 1 thanksgiving with another on the way for tomorrow.  Well I hope everyone made the trip safely and is have a brilliant time.

Cheers!   8)

Things are going generally well, except for my room situation... I've made a good number of friends here, which is quite lucky for me! I'm enjoying London. Just got my first visit from a friend, though he was visiting his girlfriend and we just met up for some dinner... so not a real visit, but I still got to see him. I have another friend visiting in March! Still making some adjustments, especially with my toxic room  :-X However, over all, the effort I made to get here was worth it.  8)

You're in Holland? I just got back from a trip in Amsterdam. It's absolutely beautiful there! You're lucky to live there ;)

I moved end of October so have been here for a month now...

I have settled in pretty well so far I think.  With holidays coming I know homesickness will kick in a bit more, but I'm trying to focus on my new life.  I have found a job and am excited to start that.  I haven't met any UKY'ers yet, however, my training is in Leeds so I will hopefully be meeting Mistress TarnLover when I'm up there.

I'm in Redditch, in Worcestershire.  And am able to meet up with anyone in the Birmingham area.

Best of luck on your move goods!!!

Hopefully my schedule will allow me to meet some other London UKYers when we have our Mexican dinner. I spoke to a friend who has visited London a few times before and isn't envious of me because of the food here.

I said, "yeah, I'm going to meet up with a group of Americans here and we're going to try some of the Mexican food here."

His response, "oh, that sounds terrifying!"  ;D

I didn't move in Aug-Oct, but I am here this week visiting, and am generally quite pleased so far. I'm now (still) tentatively planning on moving in Jan/Feb 2010 (rather than running home never to set food on English soil again, which was the other option ;)).
Moved to London February 5, 2010

Yep, for roughly 3 months I have been down in Utrecht, a very lovely city.  So what is happening with the toxic room?  I am assuming a bad flatmate?

I've been here almost 3 months and I am loving it!  Getting back into the school thing has been a little interesting, but I'm managing quite well I think.  I've made some good friends, live in a great little flat, and am getting together with everyone in my course for a big Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night after we all hand in our essays.

Also thinking of investing in a canoe for all this rain we've been having up here! ;)

No, my room is literally toxic. :-[ I have mold growing along the corner of my room from the ceiling, along the bend of the walls, to the floor.  :o Worst part, I think it is black mold...

I know that legally I have no obligation to stay, yet they insist that this is something I should "take initiative" to fix.  :-\\\\ I'm still trying to gather up the courage to tell them that I want to leave. So in a way, your first guess was correct, bad flatmates ;)

"Take initiative?" Um, you're paying them fees to live there. They need to be the ones taking initiative.
