I skipped my own wedding this morning:(
« on: February 24, 2010, 04:07:46 PM »
I guess I am going back to America tomorrow or Friday, my visa is up, and I couldn't go through with the wedding this morning. Too many warning bells have gone off in my time here.

Who knows, maybe my former fiance will move to the US someday, I still love him to bits and I am absolutely torn up over this...we just aren't ready to be married if we want it to last.

I will miss the UK so much.:(
Here we go:

17 AUG 2009- Applied online
20 AUG 2009- Biometrics
24 Aug- Sent everything to expediter
26 Aug-Application taken to consulate
26 Aug-Fiancee visas approved!!!
 2 Sep-Moved to UK!

I am so sorry to hear that.  I got out of a wedding a month before it happened, and tho it was hard at the time, if you dont feel something is right...then you have to go with your gut feeling.

Good luck and be strong!

Oh, A, I'm really sorry. It sounds like you did the right thing for yourself, even though it still hurts. If you really had that many doubts, then it couldn't have been the right thing to do right now. I wish you the best of luck. I know you have loads of friends in Arkansas who will be very happy to have you back, but you can always come and visit me in the UK if you miss it too much.  ;)  :-* [smiley=hug.gif] Hang in there.

I'm sorry to hear this.  However, like Bmore said you are strong for not going through a wedding that you knew wasn't right.
Hugs to you!

While my sympathetic side wants to say, " I am so sorry" my girl power side says "Good for you."  Dangerface you truly are amazing to have the strength to realize a possible mistake was being made and act on it.  Six months ago we flew over together (or same airport different flight), I hope you get the time you and your significant other need, things work out in end and that we get to have a cocktail together sometime in the near future!  I am sorry for any heartache you are feeling but am awe in your ability to stand strong.  I hope you and your son have a safe flight home and an amazing welcome home from your family and friends!

Oh my goodness, what a tough decision.  I'm sorry you had warning bells and you two weren't ready, despite you loving him lots but good for you for making the tough, but better decision for you.  Take care and have a safe trip back to the US.

 Thanks everyone!

I must admit that I have been drinking my sorrows away while talking to my bffl and things don't seem that bad at the moment. I am really excited to see my pals and family , and I still think I made the right decision. I didn't get the amount of respect from him that I would need to go through with the marriage. I am going home to finish school and even if he and I don't work out, I'll just come back here on my own some day when I am done. I love this country so much, sometimes I think I will miss it more than him. (Which can't be a good sign)

Thanks for listening to this installment of my several month long dramarama.

Jewlz, I may take you up on that....and next time you are in Texas, we could meet in Texarkana and do...whatever it is that people in Texarkana do?

Goods, our cocktail hour was great and I hope to hang out with you again someday!!

My flight is Saturday morning at the crack of dawn...This is so wierd.

I'm glad for you that you trusted yourself enough to listen to yourself, and take care of you and your little boy. I'm sorry that your relationship didn't work the way you had hoped/planned, but, I admire you for being strong enough to say that it just wasn't right for you. Safe trip home, and definitely keep in touch!

I can only imagine how difficult this was for you but good for you for having the courage to walk away.
