So I was all prepared to cheer for England, but once the game started, I couldn't do it.  I had to cheer for the good old USA.  Actually the draw was a perfect outcome for me, and is very symbolic of my feelings of the two countries.  I love them both... ;D

I felt exactly the same way!!! I did cheer for England a bit, though I couldn't help but root for the USA, it was only natural. I was out of my seat before I knew it, and I was trying to play it cool... haha. It was a perfect result for me, too, because I love both countries.  :)

Yes, it was a convenient result for keeping family harmony.   ;) Later I couldn't resist singing to my husband though,"It's not that easy being Green..."

We went all out, half of the front garden was in England stuff and the other half in American.  My outfit was clearly American and the Scots had on USA stuff as well.  When I was putting stuff up, people would stop by to talk since we live on a busy road. All very loverly conversation.  While the game was going on, the friendly banter was wonderful.  The Scots were taking a piss out of English fans but they came back with a song asking everyone to stand up who made it into the world cup. (we had a number of Dutch and Slovenian fans over too).  After the game, we returned to the front garden to carry on the party and a few groups of guys stopped by because of my decorations but they were all rather nice.  One younger guy from one of the groups screamed out USA sucks but the alpha male of the group corrected himself very fast... always nice to see a friendly alpha male with a group like that ;-)

So if both England and the USA win their next two games... we'll be tied in points and it will come down to who scores more goals to win the division, fingers crossed we outscore them... I would prefer not to go against Germany...eck!

This was probably the most popular one, even the fans of other teams joined in singing at Euro 96 games. Notice the dig at Germany...mullets and names on shirts at 2.35... :o..., then geoff hurst buying petrol, robbie williams in the crowd ...lol

Well, that was sure an exciting match.  I am really pleased that we came from behind to tie it, however, I see no reason as to why our third goal was disallowed.  There were some horrible calls in this game, most of which did not go our way.  I am not happy with the result  >:(

Yeah, USA were robbed at the end but it was still a fun match to watch.  England tonight!  What will happen?

Oh man, I was so mad! And I'm even madder that I don't know anything about football, so I was really even more frustrated until I figured out that no one else understood the ref's decision either. Booo! We should've won that! But, I am so proud of the way the USA played in the second half of the game. It showed a lot of heart.

Now my attention can go to England. Goooo England!!!!  ;D

I totally agree.  The first half was slightly embarrassing, but the second half was something to be proud of.
