DH works for a Taiwanese company, and they always have a ton of Chinese food catered on Chinese New Year... And he brought me some leftovers! Lots of different stuff, all really good. :)

We're having chicken stew with carrots, potatoes, onion, corn, mushrooms and green beans, with dumplings. It isn't horribly cold at 42f, but it has been drizzly and grey all day, with fog starting to set in. Warm comfort food seemed like the best thing.

Made a Szechuan Prawn Noodle Stirfry - Not bad for something I threw together in 15 minutes just from digging around the fridge and cupboards

BF's mum has been in town and for her last night she's taking us out to eat at The Diner. Not what I would consider "true" diner food, but yummy regardless. :)

We put boneless chicken thighs in the crock pot with carrots, turnips, and kale and a jar of tikka masala sauce. The meat fell apart and it was all gorgeous! I love my crock pot... :)

I tried my hand at making sweet and sour chicken from scratch, along with egg fried rice and some store-bought prawn toast and spring rolls. The sweet and sour sauce turned out ok for a first attempt, I suppose. It will need some fine tuning, I think. Not sure if it was too sweet or two sour??

It was. ;D And so does that!

We're in a dinner rut lately - having the same few meals over and over again. May have to make that soon!

Yum!  ;D

We had the rest of last night's chicken stew. I just made another pack of dumplings (the box only makes 10) and added those to it. Quick and easy.

I was so looking forward to haggis, neeps and tatties this evening.  It is Burns Night after all!!
But...  I am feeling so rubbish that I had no appetite for anything.  I have just now had a piece of toast.
So the haggis will probably wait until Friday or Sunday...

I've been in a dinner rut too! Usually it's just me, so I just wing it and cook the easiest thing in the fridge or pull something out of the freezer!....Hubby is home again tonight and I have NO clue what to make...I think we have ribs in the freezer...maybe that with some veg or something?
