Oh my :( are you short of breath at all? I'd be there tonight honestly if my legs had that much edema and toes changed color. I'm sorry this has continued and I really hope you get some quick help tomorrow!

I'm not short of breath.

I have to take a train then a taxi to the closest A&E or I would have gone tonight after I saw my toes turn purple. One of the disadvantages of not having a car.

I can hang out in the photo lab tomorrow and Wednesday is typically our slowest day. I should be ok until I can get to the hospital.

You can also call 111, they can schedule urgent appointments or send a medic to you.

Oh awesome.  I didn't know all that was available.  I'll call in the morning from work and try to get a face to face appointment instead of going to A&E. I'll go to A&E if I have to.  I'm heading to bed now to hopefully get some sleep.   Thanks so much!

Keep us posted Tami.  I agree that you need to seek medical attention sooner rather than later.

I'm more worried as you've just recently flown long haul.   :-\\\\

My doctor surgery was able to get me an urgent appointment for this morning.  I'm waiting to see the doctor now.

Good luck Tami, hope you are feeling better.  I didn't make a joke about problem swelling in the pubis area so I hope you are proud of me.

If it wasn't so horrifying, I would have made my own jokes! Lmfao.

Very worrying Tami. I agree with KFDancer about swelling after a long haul flight ,that's worrying.
Hopefully you're getting the medical help you need and all goes okay!

I'm back from the doctor.

Basically,  it is my anaemia causing this. My iron/ferretin level is a 3. He said it is shockingly low. (which I already knew but been waiting for my NHS referral letter.)

Every system in my body is running at full capacity to try and keep up but it's failing.  He could hear my heart working harder because of the "upflow".

So he's repeating my bloods so he can apply pressure to get my iron infusion done faster. He said I need it urgently but unfortunately the NHS doesn't do urgent unless you are dying.

And he told me not to bother with the prescription for the iron tablets I was prescribed because they will make little difference and cause me more intestinal problems. Basically,  I'm too low for anything else to work other than an infusion.

So I'm taking the rest of the day off work to rest and I'll go back tomorrow.  My bloods are on Tuesday.

And in the meantime,  nothing he can do about the swelling. Just keep my feet up as much as I can and wait.

Oh yikes, that sounds miserable. Rest up and hopefully you will get an infusion really soon. (Any options for private?)

No. I don't have private insurance.  It would be a pre-existing condition anyway and wouldn't have been covered.

Any chance the hospital would do the infusion if you did go to A&E?

You don't necessarily need private insurance to go private, you just need to pay out of pocket. (Not always an option for folks, I know)

I do know the agony of waiting for the NHS when I've had horrible pain (and I too didn't have the option to go private), so I really feel for you.

Glad you were able to see the doctor tami. Sorry if I missed it but do you know why you’re anaemic in the first place?
