Just had someone at my desk showing them something.  He has a cold.  Sneezed into his hands.  Then touched my mouse and keyboard.  Hoping by antibacterial wipes do what they are supposed to do!!!!

Ewwwww. That is so gross and so inconsiderate. They've taught people in the US to cough/sneeze into your elbow so you're less likely to transmit germs. Even so, if I had a cold I would never go touching someone else's desk!

My current IA. Get full UK license, insurance company says sorry your rates are staying the same, and you'll have to pay to go anywhere else before the year of coverage is up. Aviva may be nice and insure people on foreign licenses but what a rip off.

I would be so disgusted and livid!  I hope those wipes do the trick!  So rude of him.

We often hear of people's rates going UP due to "being a new driver".   ::)

Try Admiral.

Stuart is a new driver and I have a UK provisional. Insurance is very cheap for us. Less than £50 a month.

It's def a human jobby. It's been reported to police but they say it's unlikely they can do anything. We will call the council tomorrow morning but I have a terrible fear that we are going to have to clear this up ourselves as it's on our land.

Oh Sh*t!! (pun mildly intended)...I thought you meant your car park like where you happened to park...but you mean like....literally where you live...UGH! people are disgusting.

That's F*****g nasty. seriously people! What happened to learning manners! Even sneeze into your arm if you're going to be touching other peoples stuff! I would feel like the walls were closing in with germs if I were you LOL

Margo - OMG yeah! It's shocking how high insurance costs are just because they don't take into consideration your previous driving history. Mines gone down this year compared to my first year, but it's still what I would consider quite high! Assuming you used Compare the Market? I found a really cracking deal form Tesco on insurance but it's because I had 2 years no claim (they took my year using a provisional into consideration as no claims, which really helped).

My, how time flies....

My insurance is under £50/month as a new driver, too.  Well, I've been fully UK licensed since April 2017, and I started the insurance in June this year, so I'd been licensed for just over a year when I got the cover.  But I'm still in the 2-year new driver period, with the 6-penalty point limit.  Scary times.   :P

That's really cheap for car insurance!  Is that comprehensive cover?

It's actually a bit high, in my opinion.  I pay £69 a month for 2 cars, both have business and personal cover.  But I've been here a long time.

I'm having a bit of a saga with Coast at the moment :(.

I have a ticket for the Christmas Draw on my RAF base next Friday (14th) and it's black tie/evening gown dress. I've been in need of a new evening gown for a while (mainly to take with me to the Falklands), and last week I realised they had some nice dresses on offer on the Coast website. So, I ordered one in a size 8 and two in a size 10 last Tuesday, with free shipping. Unfortunately, they were out of stock in the short length (I'm only 5'2"), so I had to order the regular (which I know is a few inches too long for me, and I'd have to get it turned up).

Then 2 days later on Thursday, I went on the website again to check my order status and discovered they now had the size 8 dress available in short, so I ordered it - but had to pay £3.99 for shipping as it didn't qualify for free shipping.

Then on Friday, I checked the site again, and suddenly they had 30% off everything... so I ordered another size 8 short, and one of the size 10 regular length at the cheaper price, with the intention of sending the others back.... and I paid £4,99 for nominated day delivery, so they would be delivered today.

It's now Monday afternoon:
- the first order arrived yesterday morning (at 9:30am on a Sunday - I wasn't even dressed yet!)
- the second order has yet to be dispatched (and I have yet to receive any tracking info)
- the third order, which I paid extra to have it delivered TODAY, also has yet to be dispatched (and I have yet to receive any tracking info)!
- I returned the first order today, because the size 10s were too big, and the size 8 regular was too long

So, now I'm not sure whether I should just wait out the third order and hope it arrives today, or call them and ask what's going on (I'm at work tomorrow which is why I went for delivery today). It wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't paid an extra £5 for faster shipping to get it on Monday, when I could have gone for the free shipping option and waited a few more days.

However, I'm hesitant to call because don't want to draw attention to the fact that I've ordered the same 2 dresses 3 times in the space of a week :P.

Really. Wow. I was thinking in terms of US insurance. If I hadn't kept the daughter on my multi-line policy that I'd had for 40 years, it was going to be three times that for her insurance, and she's been driving 10 years!

I pay my car insurance in full each year, but dividing it by 12 months works out at £29 per month (£349/year) for fully comprehensive cover, motor legal protection and £0 excess, plus my parents listed as named drivers (I have 8 years no claims bonus and 10+ years of UK driving experience).

I switched from my old car insurance company this year, as they quoted me £675 to renew my policy... which was several hundred more than I was expecting (and more than £200 more than the previous year).

You're all making me sad. I'm going to look again after I have a job, because I think being unemployed means crazy high quotes. :(

And I've been denied yet another interview because of not having the exact experience they are looking for. I'll never have the exact experience because of how they segregated roles where I gained all my experience. Without a miracle I'll never find a job.

Margo - Hang in there. Except for the government jobs I've been offered but ran up against the security issue thing, the only way I got my last four jobs were word-of-mouth. Someone knew someone who was looking, and that I was looking, and put the two of us together. Never underestimate the role of networking. If there's any sort of professional organization you could join?

You can play with how you describe yourself. Try housewife or homemaker, that may result in a cheaper quote than if you call yourself unemployed.
