Save. In the States I never used one past childhood. Here it seems to be windy every time it rains enough to need one, making it flip inside out. Instead of ruining expensive ones, I get the pound shop ones.

Save by stocking up when it is on sale.

Holiday specific treats.

Prescription glasses.

The place I go to in the States offers a buy one, get one free deal, plus they take the cost of the eye doctor's fee off the price of the glasses, so it equals to getting the doc visit free, so it is a save. On top of that, I go with my tax refund so it feels like it is free. I haven't been while I was here, but intend to go soon after getting back to the States.

Most of the time save--as long as it's clean, I'll happily stay at a hostel.

Cat / dog (whatever pet) food.

Middle? I don't save, ever since blowing out the motors of two blenders within a month making green smoothies so I bought a slightly more expensive one (like $80) but haven't splurged on the Blendtec or VitaMix my heart desires, either.

I'll say splurge in the fact that I pay more for reliability and drive the s*&t out of it. Current one will be sold with 116k miles, previous had 215k miles. Save in the fact that 2 cars in 20 years doesn't end up costing me much!

Save.  All I have is a laptop.  No TV, no printer, no games, etc.  I hate wires junking up my space everywhere.  (Though hubby has a bit more than me and those few things make a heck of an octopus of tangled wires everywhere.  *sigh*)

Flights (I wonder if anyone here has ever splurged on first or business class?)

Save. We dream of first class or a miracle, unexpected upgrade. We intend to do it 'one day'.

'Gourmet' coffee/tea/other drinks while out and about.

I was unexpectedly bumped up to first class when there was a problem with the original plane I was supposed to get.  Because I was at the airport *very* early (spent the night!) I got put onto an earlier flight, but only first class had seats available!  Too bad I was so exhausted I fell asleep right away and didn't really experience it (except for lots of leg room and fresh squeezed orange juice).

Most of the time save as hubby and I bring a thermos of hot drinks when out walking / hiking.  If we're in a city / village we will spring for a nice coffee in a cafe once in a while though.

Splurge usually. I don't buy much, and it's usually grainy artisan type - assuming I can find it!!

Cheese

Cheese
Well, mid-range I guess.  I won't get cheap cheese and usually stick to Morrisson's own fancier range and keep it 'made in England'.  We only get cheese every so often anyway.
