Just finished
Mother's Milk. It was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize for 2006, which is how I came across it as I was researching books for the next London book club.
In fact, I'm glad it's not our next book, as I found it a bit shallow and false, in particular, the character of the oldest child, "Robert". I liked Robert as a character, but I did not perceive him to be depicted realistically, as his words came across as very unrealistic for someone of his depicted age.
In a nutshell, it was very forgettable. And for me to invest my time in reading a book, I want it to move me or change me in some way. Much like the work of Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins does.
