Finished The Manchurian Candidate and Two Caravans. Not sure what I'll be reading next yet. Probably a history of the Templars book I've got lying around.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I just sped-read through "Skinny b*tch" - I can't say I agree with all of its philosophy, especially the veganism!  I would eat less meat if I could find adequate meat (protein) substitutes.  Maybe I will have to post on Food Talk to get ideas, as in principle I do agree with a lot of what the book had to say.

It talked about the evils of the food industry in the USA, seems we are better off in the UK in a lot of ways.

It also talked about the evils of aspartame - I did cut back drastically on my diet Coke intake about a year ago and do think it has made a positive impact.

I finished Saplings and was astounded at how ahead of its time it was (written in 1945). It's about the disintegration of a 'perfect' family during WWII, particularly the psychological effects of the war on children. I was in tears every night reading it.

And now I'm re-reading Tales of the City.

Hmm.  I will have to put Saplings on my to read list.

I am reading Two Caravans by Marina Lewycka.

I bought Skinny B*tch as well, and after reading the first 2 chapters and skimming, I took it back!  Not that it didn't have a few good points, but nowhere in the description did it say what I thought to be the whole point of the book - that veganism is the only way to be healthy.

I am reading "Notes from a Small Island" by Bill Bryson.  So far it's as funny as I expected it to be.  Great book for my very first book mooch.

I am also reading "The Family Tree" by Carole Callwalladr.

Since I last posted I have finished The Secret, Half of a Yellow Sun, Carry Me Down and The Alchemist.

I'm now reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

:)

Mr. Moggs is reading "The Alchemist", and he seems to have mixed feelings about it.  Did you like it?  He keeps talking about it, but since I haven't read it, it's sort of hard to have a conversation about it.

Wait a minute. You read five books between Monday and Wednesday?!  Impressive.

OK, to answer the question "What ya reading" I'd have to say NOT ENOUGH my friends, clearly not enough!  ;D

Yeah, I can get a bit obsessed.  I usually get a bunch from the library and read them straight through and then don't get back to the library for ages.  Plus I do this speed read thing and then if I like the book enough I re-read it more closely.

The only two left are a travel guide of Scotland for my parents' visit next week and a 700+ page book I'm not liking much called the Peacock Throne by Sujit Saraf.
