I am reading The Girl with the Pearl Earring

I loved that book!  The movie was pretty good as well :)

I am reading "The Bhagavad Gita" and "Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat'...The first one is for yoga and the second one is because I wanted Japanese recipes!!

I've recently read Eve Green by Susan Fletcher (A) and Edward Trencom's Nose: A Novel of History, Dark Intrigue and Cheese (C-). Now I'm on After Julius by the amazing Elizabeth Jane Howard.

I just took out a bag of books from the library.  I am about to start The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer.  I am a bit embarrassed that this is the first book of his I have read.

Thanks Geeta, but I have them!  I especially enjoy her stories because I spent some of my childhood in Arizona (and Mom has moved back there) so I visit often.

I am sure this will be done before the end of the weekend.

Girl in a Blue Dress by Gaynor Arnold. It was longlisted for the Booker this year, but so far ... meh. Or perhaps the problem is that I fall asleep every night after about three pages.  :-\\\\

I just read The Lives of Pippa Lee by Rebecca Miller. It was mildly entertaining and I liked the ending but there wasn't much point to it really. I just started reading Ruby Wax's autobiography. It's written in a very humorous way so I'm quite enjoying it but she just skims over major events so it's not a terribly satisfying read.  In some bits she says she can't remember what else happened at that time because she was stoned ... I guess that's meant to be funny.

GRANTA - The Rise of the British Jihad

Ooh, tell me how that one goes please!!

It's the title piece of the (Oct.) magazine, but not the whole issue, so it's less than 50 pages long.  I'm not knowledgeable or well-read enough to comment on how good a piece of investigative journalism it is, but it's well written and was interesting to me (someone who wouldn't ordinarily buy a book on this topic).  It raised more questions in my mind than it answered.

This is an interesting thing I noted about it.  I've subscribed to Granta for ages and like to take it with me to read at swimming lessons, etc. and leave my current novel at home.  No other issue has raised the kinds of comments from others that this one has.

Britwife, I also just finished Pippa, completely agree with your assessment.

I'm reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult.  I've been a bit disappointed with her lately ( I loved The Pact and My Sister's Keeper) but this one is going well.  :)
