Been reading The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters - it's good!  Think I'm going to have to give some of her other novels a go too.  :)

It's the weakest of all her books, in my opinion. Still well-written, but not up to her usual standards. So if you liked it, you'll love her others.

Just started "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind.

FABULOUS book.

I'm reading Forever Amber because I was in the mood for some lascivious Restoration London trash.

I've found it a little slow in parts, but the scary bits are good!  :)

I am reading Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth.  It is a true and fascinating account of  life in the East End during the 1950's as experienced by the author who was a midwife serving the local population.  I can't put it down.

Oh, thanks for this.  It's on my wish list for my e-reader.  I'll definitely download it now!

I finished The Road Home by Rose Tremain this morning.  Really enjoyed it.

She is!  Have you read other Rose Tremain books?  If so, which ones would you recommend?  I am hooked!   :)

The only other one I've read is Restoration which was wonderful, but completely different from The Road Home. I loved it, though! And I just recently read one of her short stories in a collection by various authors; that was fantastic too.

Thank you!  I will check out Restoration.  I love it when I accidentally come across an author that I end up loving!

We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. It's making me not EVER want to have kids. I think I probably really needed to read this at this point in time.  :P

It's really good though, isn't it?  But tormenting.  I'm just finishing up "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrel.  It was a gift from a co-worker who mentioned that it was one of those books that is embedded in English culture. I LOVED it.  And my husband just lit up when he saw is because he remembered reading it and loving it as a child. I've also gotten some amazing young adult lit books through this website I review for, so that's been fun.

I really like this book as well.  I saw someone on the tube just the other day reading it and had to mention to him how good it was.

Yep, I'm definitely enjoying it (especially considering it only cost me 30p from the market!) but I'm still in the beginning of it. It's intense.

We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver.

I'd like to read this. I am reading Henning Mankell's One Step Behind.
