I'll keep a look-out for that one! I love World War II diaries and memoirs and have quite a few of them:

While watching "The War" on the yesterday channel I wondered about the widows of WW2 and what happened after.  I searched amazon for a book on the subject but came up blank.  Surely there must be a book or two about the women left behind.   ???

I don't know of a book that fits that description but, like you, I feel sure there must be a few! I do, however, know of a great book about the women left behind after the First World War, if that's of interest to you. It's Singled Out: How Two Million Women Survived Without Men After the First World War. I highly recommend it!

Lovely book! We did it in my book group last year. You can't go wrong with Rose Tremain!

It's pretty good.  It makes me want to see the house, but I don't think it's ever open to the public.
