In case it helps alleviate the worries of anybody else who's been waiting, I though I'd chime in to say that I received a letter approving my citizenship application today – exactly six months to the day that I posted it. I thought I'd be a pretty straightforward case, and didn't expect it to take so long, so I've been pretty worried. Hope the best for everybody else.

Congratulations! It sucks that they're taking so long though.

Anymore news from anyone applying for naturalisation? It's been three months for me now. I hate waiting!  ::)

No you don't hear again until your approval. It's all postal correspondence.

My NCS appointment is tomorrow so I thought I would bump this thread. I'll try to remember to post updates as I go along.

I'll be glad to be done with all of this after more than 6 years.

Hi all, just following as I will soon be sending in my paperwork for registration/citizenship and am hoping that the fall/winter months things go a bit faster :) I am currently reading through some of the time lines and it seems that things can go from a couple of weeks to a couple of months!

Yep I've been waiting for 4 months now and my application is straight forward. Still haven't heard anything.

I applied on July 22nd via NCS.  Funds were withdrawn on July 31st.  Had biometrics done on August 14th.  Now the waiting game.

My application should be straightforward as it's based on marriage and the old rules with nothing out of the ordinary.  I'm just on the assumption that it will be six months before I hear anything, so I hear sooner then it's a bonus.

I'll be applying for citizenship in the next few weeks and I'm almost done with the application but a few questions came up:

- When it asks for 'village, town or city of birth', should I put what's on my passport and BRP as 'place of birth'? Those both have *state*, USA rather than *city*, USA. Part of me thinks my application should match my documents, but then it's not really the city. :-\\\\

- It asks for addresses for the past 5 years. I'm applying under the three year residency rule based on marriage to a UK citizen. Do I need to include addresses for all 5 years (I was travelling for the two years before moving to the UK, but I could put my parent's home address).

This is nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time. [smiley=dizzy2.gif]

Thanks!

Hi guys I got my approval letter today. I applied on April 20th so got it almost exactly 4 months later. Gosh! Anyways it says on my letter that they will issue my certificate in my married name but I need to change my us passport to my married name too if I want a British passport to be issued. Otherwise they will refuse the application. Can anyone help me with this. As I understand it takes up to 8 weeks to get a new U.S. Passport then a further 6-8 weeks for the UK passport. I'm really worried as I want to travel to see my family soon. Do you think it's possible to apply for my UK passport in my maiden name and just sort it all out after travelling or will they not issue a passport in a name that's different to my naturalisation certificate?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks!

I put my full birthplace (city, state, USA) and as for the addresses, since I applied based on marriage, I only put my last three addresses (I've only been here three years anyway so I had no more UK addresses to list anyway).  I submitted my application via NCS.  They went through each page and confirmed that since I was applying based on marriage that the three years of addresses was sufficient to meet the requirements.

I applied on August 4th through NCS for the three year married route. Money was withdrawn on August 19th.
Keepin' it real. Real annoying.

Cheers kbee!

Now I just have to wait for DH to get back (he's on a work trip to America without me :-[ ) and then I'll apply through NCS.

I'm on the home stretch now! Can't wait to be done with visas. :D

Hubby is currently filling out his UKM form and is stuck at the Surname part  :-\\\\
Does he put his last name and then in the other name line put his first then middle?

Also, he is getting his citizenship due to his mother being a born UK citizen and him being born before 1983. Does he need to include his grandparents info?
I'm sure we'll have many more questions.....
