I have to make Birds Custard when I make trifle over here. I do like it! I am laughing so hard at the 12 cans of Ambrosia in your suitcase. Did customs open it up and did you shrug your shoulders and say "Devon knows how they make it so creamy"?  ;D

I was pretty relieved when my suitcase came off the luggage spewer (what are those things called?!?) still intact.  I was half convinced they would blow it up after seeing all the metal cans in the x-ray.  ;)

Drat! Now I want a reason to use that corny come-back!  Perfectly awful and worth 10 groans.   ;D

I did notice the similarity in flavor between graham crackers and digestives.  My OH gave me a rather odd look when I asked if anyone ever made digestive crusts for cheesecakes over here.....  ;)
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

You don't like the ricotta?! That is my favourite part of lasagna! I love it so much I'd rather have manicotti. (it's a pasta shell stuffed with ricotta and shredded cheese mixture)

As to the bacon. It really is all about cooking the slices of bacon so the fat is crispy and just melts in your mouth. *drools* I've only had perfect bacon a few times in my life, but I can remember those times perfectly.

Haha and my favourite part of lasagne is the Bechamel! I have had ricotta in some things but for some reason in lasagne I don't like it at all.

YES! I don't like the fat being chewy at all in Bacon, I like that crispy, meaty texture when I bite into my Bacon Roll. I'm drooling now just thinking about it!

Oh and I am following you on Twitter by the way, hope you don't mind.  :)

The Bechamel just doesn't add enough... texture for me I suppose. The flavour is nice, it just isn't what I'm used to. haha. My mom always put a lot of ricotta and mozzarella/cheddar in between every layer of noodles. I haven't had ricotta over here, so it could be different?

I'm really not a fan of UK bacon, but that has more to do with the fact that I hate ham.
Yes, I love american/streaky bacon but I hate ham. I'm weird. I also eat pork loin and pork chops. haha. Oh, a thick cut slice of american bacon cooked to perfection is heaven.  The best bacon I ever had was applewood smoked and I don't know how they cook it to where the fat is crisp and melty and the meat is still a little chewy...
My Brit pretty much eats sausages and streaky bacon now when we're home. He's a dear when it comes to getting foods I like.

Haha, feel free! I don't know if you'll see to much out of me on Twitter. I tend to tweet in fits and starts anymore. Maybe if I was doing more in my life I'd tween more?
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

This exactly, for me. I cannot stand ham - don't like ham lunch meat, don't like it roasted for Christmas/Easter, don't like ham salad... But I will eat Canadian bacon on pizza (not the thick stuff). I will tolerate back bacon, because I will tolerate just about any food, but I definitely prefer the streaky stuff.

Anndddd I suppose if I'm just going to barge into the conversation, I may as well try and stick to the topic. ;)

I am totally obsessed with sticky toffee pudding. Does that count as a dish? Cover it in ice cream or custard (something else I'm weirdly learning to enjoy), I don't care. Sticky toffee pudding is delicious.

Also really love fish and chips straight from a chippy.

You may be right. Ricotta could very well be different in the UK. I know corn chips are different in the UK to the US (I prefer the UK version) and you're exactly right! When it's what you're used to, it's hard to give it up!

Haha I'm not a huge fan of ham either but I like Bacon. Again, me and my odd tastes.

Do you get back to the US often then? Haha yes, my tweets right now are all about the Hershey ban on British chocolate in the US. Ridiculous! haha

Haha, the more the merrier I always say!

Yeah, I don't like Ham in any fashion. Not at Easter, not Honeybaked, blech. I think it's partially a texture thing for me. That and I don't love super smokey things either. haha. I'm glad I'm not the only ham-ophobe.

Sticky toffee pudding tastes really nice but I can't eat more than a few bites cause it's SO sweet and rich. My hubby loves it though. *grins*

I'm all for the Yorkshire puddings. I love choux pastry and gravy so Yorkshire puddings are the best thing ever! haha.

Yeah, I'll have to see what its like... that or learn to make my own. I've heard it's really easy and tastes lovely! Lots of things are just a bit different between our countries! haha, heck thing can be different from one end of the US to the other. Barq's rootbeer over there has caffeine in it in the midwest but it doesn't in CO. Weird, no?

Nah, it's not odd at all. haha. I don't like bananas but I LOVE banana bread. I won't eat onions most of the time (if I can help it) but I love onion rings. Tomatoes are gross, but ketchup is lovely! So it's not just you.

Well, I only just moved to the UK last February so I've almost been here 1 whole year. *grins* I haven't had a chance to get back yet and I'm really missing my family and friends. We just need to get ourselves moved and save for my ticket and back I'll go!
Do you get a chance to visit the UK much?

My tweet are usually about whatever thing I'm watching on TV or whatever silly thing I've noticed and have good enough cell service to post it. haha.

DS always likes Yorkshires when he's home.  The Yorks. puddings my mum made was different but then she wasn't from Yorkshire!  Beans on frozen potato waffles was always a favourite with the kids (NOT toast!)

I'm not fond of the bechamel sauce -- too runny. Maybe people who like custard go for that consistency  ;)  I'd use ricotta if I could get it.

Nahhh, it's not bad here at all. I just really miss home and the friendliness of Texas. And the food. I am a firm supporter of the opening of a Texas Roadhouse on this side of the pond, haha.

More than happy to bring you British sweets though! ;)

I bet you miss Tex-Mex like mad, eh? I lived in Britain and not once did I see a Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant. I can't escape them here! haha!

I've only been to a Texas Roadhouse once in my 5 years here and that was right when I first moved here (There's one literally right around the corner from me in Northwest Austin) and I keep meaning to go back. I ordered a chicken fried steak (my first ever of those) and although I loved the steak and cream gravy, the green beans on the side were swimming in bacon grease and it was just too much to me. I like bacon and I like green beans but that was just too much! haha even my wife and MIL were advising me to avoid them. But I do want to go back and I'm sure a Texas Roadhouse would go down well in Britain!

I must say, I love the friendliness over here. In the UK I never experienced much friendliness from strangers but here people smile and say hello. It's wonderful! I hope my fellow Brits haven't treated you badly? I personally apologise on behalf of all of us! :)

Southerners...even the healthy stuff we make deadly.

Ranch dressing. Take a serving of healthy greens and vegetables and then pump on a pint of gloop...

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
