Ksand, is it normal to take a few days to send out official email decisions even after a decision has been made?

It can happen if they are busy - as you've seen from other people's posts, in some cases, the email isn't sent out until a week or more after the decision has been made.

Remember, you don't know for definite that the decision has actually been made yet. The email enquiry service may be right, but there also is that chance that they might not be.

All you can do is wait for either the decision-made email, or for your package to arrive (or both).

My bad, he thought he paid for my sons this summer and it didn't go thru but I reminded him that the lawyer said we didn't need to pay b/c he's 7 yo.  So he paid on Friday but it still says pending.  I told him to chat with his bank tomorrow if it still hadn't gone thru.  I'm at day 90 by the end of the week, please let them get it processed by then!

Hey guys

So finally the official email came through to my lawyer today and they sent the package out this afternoon. It's scheduled to arrive to me Wednesday evening. I'm petrified but so happy it's finally coming to an end. Hopefully everyone else will gets theirs too in a day or so. Praying for all.

Great news.  At least you know it's approved.  How's the broken arm?

There are also other spouses of civilians who are there already though... so I don't think they distinguish between the different application types.

Yep, apart from the fact that those whose are a spouse of British AF are not charged for their IHS number, there is no difference between those married to someone in the AF and those who aren't.

The packet not only contains a US passport, but vital information of a personal nature of a member of the British HM forces.

Don't worry, everyone sends in private documents and these are all dealt with by government workers.

there are other wives of HM forces officers who applied at the same time as us and they are there already.

Perhaps they paid for the priorty service for their application? Those who do this have their application go ahead of the applicants that didn't?

??? Why would the lawyer say that? All the information on who is exempt from paying the IHS,  is on the UK government's site.
https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/when-you-need-to-pay

They give advance warning of any changes to this, also put on the UK government's site. i.e. the Tier 2 ICT's having to pay the IHS soon.

There was a glitch in the IHS website a couple of months ago, where if you put the child's visa application details into the calculator, it would say that no IHS surcharge applied, even though it was supposed to (and even though it doesn't say children are exempt on the list of exemptions).

So, if the lawyer went through the calculation wizard, it would have told them that there was £0 fee.

At least one other person on the forum was caught out by this back in August, where the IHS website told them there was no fee to pay, so Sheffield had to contact them to request payment. The forum member wrote back to say there was no fee to pay, and Sheffield corrected them, saying there was an error on the IHS site.

I remember. But shouldn't a lawyer be looking at the governmnent's site to get the correct information, on the link I posted above? Or look at the at any changes for the IHS that the government posted on their website? Or at the law that brought the IHS in and the secondary laws for this, all published on the UK government site? The government even publish a lot of UKVI guidelines on their site too.

The various calulators are for people who don't have a legal background, for stupid people, like me ;D

No decision made email yet for me and I'm currently at day 82. I tried the email enquiry service again last nite and I received the same response that a decision has been made and it has already been processed. So it's apparently been completed as of Thursday the 27th but I still have not gotten official word yet. I dunno what to think or believe anymore. I know several other people here who got the same responses as me from the enquiry service followed soon by the official sheffield email. I'm worried

Also if they couldn't find my return airway label, they would have emailed me by now right? That was placed in front of our packet taped to our return envelope and was also noted on our table of contents so not sure how anyone would miss it but just tying to think of anything at this point for why....
