has anyone else noticed
« on: November 09, 2016, 11:30:54 AM »
I apologise in advance if this post offends anybody.

Has anyone else noticed the  9/11 and 11/9 juxtaposition?

I don't know about anybody else, but I am sitting here in a state of shock. The election results prove just how truly stupid and naive and gullible the American people really are.  To vote into office, to elect a man to become President of the United States, a man who has not ONE day of political experience goes beyond belief. It makes me ashamed to be American.   The cynic in me would say this is the beginning of Armageddon.

I see the juxtaposition far more with Brexit.  The only thing the same with 911 was the shock for me.

Offends? Heck no. Like jimbocz I immediately thought the response was similar to Brexit.....and the reasons very much the same. Does that make people stupid? Well....I guess you have the right to that opinion...... I don't think it's that simple. I guess in a way I could use this example.

*You are stuck on a deserted island with little/no food+water.....basically starving to death. The way off the island is very much death defying (Castaway?). Do you want to just keep going slowly along....likely dying......or take the chance (a big one) on being saved? I'm sure there are a lot of people that see themselves in this situation. Are there a whole bunch of prejudice etc people out there as well.....yes.

I think a lot of Trump supporters see themselves willing to try something (anything?) to change the way things are being run in the US. Sure.....plenty of gullible people....but the view from the "other side" is that the Clinton supporters are gullible. Who's right? From who's view?

As I have said many times......I am not a Trump supporter.....but I can certainly understand why people were voting for him. A part of me likes the big shake up.

Trump voters weren't just disadvantaged poor, the media may have said they were, but as we now know, the media got it all wrong. There were a lot of perfectly well off white folks who believed private e-mail servers were more important than minorities' rights, who wanted to protect their privilege and their social order at all costs. They're not desperate, they're just mean. They disgust me.

Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

As I have said many times......I am not a Trump supporter.....but I can certainly understand why people were voting for him.

I voted for Hillary, and I understand too. My parents, who've always voted Democrat, voted for Trump for various reasons and we chatted about the results this morning. Do I think it's the end of the world that Trump got in? No. I've moved on, and I'm interested to see where these next 4 years will take the country.

More so than anything right now though, I'm saddened at how my friends and family are treating each other over the results. There's some real ugliness out there right now. I've seen gloating, intolerance, disrespect, and petulance from both sides. My BIL sounded off and went on a deleting spree of so called "Hillary sore losers," and I have a cousin who said that anyone who voted for Trump has no place in her life. It's pathetic. I'm so glad I don't get political on Facebook. Think I'll just stay away from social media today.

Too late!  Who says Americans don't understand irony?

Hell, I've just been crying on and off all morning...

I absolutely lost it this morning.  It was pouring rain and the train only had 8 carriages so it looked like I might not even get on.  I saw a teenager with headphones standing midway down the aisle surrounded by empty space.  I slammed the window very loudly with an open palm and said "You!  Move down! ".   Then I started effing and blinding at everyone else to move as well.  I think I made some of them wet themselves!  Needless to say, for the rest of the ride I was treated like an ax murderer.

I had you pictured on an edgy bicycle in the morning, with Edwardian beard and a flat cap. Oxford boots.

Man, they must be disallusioned.  However, they are benefiting from legal dope which would have made my 18-25 years so much more interesting.
