I really hope you make it in time but if you don't, you'll have all the time in the world to make up for it when you do get there.  ;D

Ello!  Anyone heard anything today?

Hey mate, did you ever contact UKVI to confirm they're processing your application as priority?

We still haven't heard anything and we're getting paranoid they're processing our app as non-priority even though the receipt says priority.

Keep in mind this site is mostly people applying from the USA, so processing times for other countries will not line up with USA applications (which are historically processed quite quickly).

You know yours is marked priority.  In my five years on this forum, I only know of one application that was not treated as priority when it was sent as priority.  And they successfully received a refund of the priority fee (could have blown us over with a feather)!

As long as the envelope was marked on both sides as "Priority Settlement Application" (or something to that effect, forgot the exact wording) you will be processed as priority.

Edit - The above is for US applications. As KFdancer below states as long as you met the requirements set out by your country's application process you'll be fine! It's just a horrible case of waiting unfortunately.

Fronge applied from a different country which has a different process.  But his was marked as priority accordingly for that country.  :)

Hey there,

I was able to contact Sheffield, and they confirmed that my application was treated as priority.  Knowing that it was treated as priority, and the fact that it is marked on the receipt that we received from the TLS centre eliminates any doubt.

However, I do believe what KFdancer says to be true.  My theory is, due to so many potential permanent residence applications being sent to Sheffield by EU residents in the wake of Brexit, they have been collected and organised along with the settlement visa applications.  It is true that, according to the February numbers, most US visas were processed relatively faster, and that most applications from the US are now most likely being processed faster.

I feel the same frustration as you do, as you're nearing close to 40 working days.  Sometimes I feel like, with regards to priority visa applications outside of the US/Oz/Canada, those at Sheffield can't be arsed.  That's just me though :)

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks, KFdancer!

Thanks for the reassurance. And yeah, definitely get that impression too. Hopefully we'll hear something soon!

OH CRAP! I sent mine in yesterday.

I didn't mark my envelope priority. I put the form right at the top. Anyone have experience with this? Now I'm worried I've paid all that extra money for nothing.

You'll be fine.  It's only when they get into crazy summer backlog that not marking the envelope may slow your processsing down.  As soon as you get your "package received" email, you'll know it's in the right pile (it just won't be until then).

Not that it helps you (sorry :( ), but I think there were two other applications outside of those areas that did get a reasonable turnaround time. Hope you get an answer soon.

Yeah, I figured there would be, and it doesn't surprise me.

However, where both fronge and I applied from (Madrid and Düsseldorf), the standard visa wait time according to February numbers was 60-90 days, from both cities.  However there are some EU cities like Berlin and Brussels where the turnaround was only 10-15 days for standard in February.  I suppose it's all the luck of the draw.

Yeah, there shouldn't be but everything else being equal, there is a lot of luck involved with a visa application.
