Ooh, explosions... now you're talking!  Wheeee!  ;)

No, for reals, though.  There was a product one of my friends wanted to buy for a ridiculous sum of money at a boutique in LA.  If you don't make "lip scrub" exfoliator, you should look into it.  It's the sort of thing that you can customize from a base, and the results of using it are rather pleasant.

Yep! I make lip scrub (using sugar and a variety of oils with beeswax base) and a body scrub (using himalayan sea salt and coconut oil as a base). I sold all my stuff at cost + shipping, because I have a full-time job and this is really just for the fun of it. I highly recommend NEVER buying this stuff from a boutique of any kind- it'll be a minimum 400% markup. All of these kinds of products (except perhaps soap-which is exceedingly dangerous to make) are super simply and very inexpensive- and I use 100% organic everything.
Applied online: 22 June, 2017
Biometrics and Docs mailed: 23 June, 2017
Arrived in Sheffield (via UPS): 26 June, 2017
Email confirmation from Sheffield: 11 July, 2017
"not straightforward" Email: 2 August, 2017
Unsolicited additional documents: 14 August, 2017
Decision made: 25 September, then revoked
Second Decision: 25 October, 2017
Docs returned: 30 October, 2017
Flight to UK: 2 November, 2017

Yes, exactly!  I was shocked at the way my friend would just buy things without ever investigating them for herself.

I am often shocked by the cost of things in shops, and I'll scoff.  I always look at the likely skill involved in making it, the materials cost, and if I wanted it badly enough, and I thought I was capable, I would just make it myself.  If it's something artistic, where I'm paying for someone's intellectual property, I don't mind rewarding them for their creativity.  Or if it's something that is more effort to make than I'm willing to do, I'll pay for the labor.  But if it's just a manufactured object with a high profit margin...?  Nope.

Oh boy! Feel better Margo!  [smiley=daisy.gif]
Oh no - sorry to hear that Margo! Hope you're ok. I've seen more than one post about ER trips for people waiting! Maybe we should start doing some stats on that too!

Lol, that's not the kind of stat I'd want to see! No appendix surgery needed, but of course, no real explanation for the pain either. So off to get more tests this afternoon! They required fasting so i am hungry. :(

How's the honeymoon Emily?
Y'know what's really great is not being on a countdown to when one of us has to leave or 6 hours out of sync. We got back about 2am on Thursday and I had to work at library Friday and today (but thankfully was able to go in late!). But that gave space for Beth to get a bit oriented at home. Then we'll have a few days clear together at beginning of next week. We're both completely exhausted and finally able to rest and sleep! Just feel raw from it all. It feels like easing back into each other's  company and gently adjusting to life together. I'm not downplaying the honeymoon bit, just being honest about the actual experience for us. At the moment it feels like life is characterised by breathing into spaces between and re-embodying our presence. We've got a few lovely short breaks planned with friends and family over next few months and when we have both recovered more financially and emotionally we might find a way to continue the three days at a  hotel for our honeymoon back in April which we efficiently combined with visit to her family Lol Perhaps we'll pop to Paris!

PS I'm pleased with myself for keeping on track with the triathlon training. Beth came to cheer me on in my swimming session last night. It's moments like that, and being able to make her breakfast, or curl round each other on sofa, and last night stir fry the courgette I grew from seed through the wait, that are beyond precious.

What have I missed here? Did I dream something about lip balm? Haven't forgotten about the demand for homecoming pic - just waiting for us both to look/ feel less wrecked! We're zoned out to Jamie Oliver right now. I'm thinking about triathlon training - but not very hard. Rocco the dog is very content  - as a herding dog, 4000 miles is a challenge. He says he'd  prefer though if we could live together with my ex-wife too, and though we're close, we've all drawn the line with him on that one  :P

You should be watching the world athletics championships for inspiration!  ;)

Lol - I don't think we're quite up to changing channels yet. Give us a week or so I was up at 5am driving my friend to Heathrow! She's going to Boston for a work thing. Now off to walk in the sunshine with Rocco. I keep humming to myself. . Now we have a pretty clear week ahead - yay!

Team Suzane!

Ok Suzane, I have set you a challenge over on priority thread to plan an intricate romantic meal for your husband when you're here. Or perhaps a picnic or some other kind of outing. Let us know if you're up for the challenge and we'll be your research and planning team.  :)
