27 years of marriage is a long time...you are a survivor lol!
Considering the information above, your application should be a piece of cake
I am not very happy with us all paying Sheffield to do no work, I'd rather donate the priority fee to people who really need it

People who have had long marriages are often the ones who are caught out by the relationship requirement, they still have to prove that their relationship is genuine in just the same way as a newlywed would, trouble is they have to account for the full length of the marriage so it often ends up being more difficult.

Trust me, Sheffield are working. The reason you are all waiting so long is that there is a backlog! This is probably due still to the new system because typically this is the fastest time of year to apply. I expect they are (almost)  as frustrated as you guys are!

Hang in there everybody. :)

In MrsPoetryMan's case, there were unspecified "technical issues" in her application processing.

However,
generally speaking, the "not straightforward" email has historically been automatically generated when an application reaches a certain threshold of time (60WDs?).  It is a device used by Home Office to cover themselves, and is in no way related to the actual content of the application.

Edit: I thought MrsPoetryMan also received the not-straightforward email.
hi, I did get a not-straightforward email after I sent the bank statements they requested in the prior email I got this morning.. I figure it was an automatic one sent once they got my email with requested docs..  Any email is better than no email.. at 56 WD today

Hopefully  marriage /genuine realtionship  covered
Marriage certificate , pics of wedding , family photos over years , utility bills, Mortgage papers  , home owners insurance , letter from our primary care physician he has been our doc for over 23 years  , letters from our family .Letter from our neighbor of 18 years he is a police officer.

We haven't been together as long, but nearly 11 years here. We are right there with you. We have a few pics, property tax statements for every year we've owned a home, lease agreements for inbetween, tax transcripts for what years we could get, as well as tax statements (individually) for each year that the transcripts couldn't go back to lol
Even when life seems at it's most dark and despairing.. there is within the power to make change.

Okay, well the following cannot be considered and will not be looked at:
- letter from primary care physician
- letters from family
- Letter from neighbor

The ONLY letter they are allowed to consider is the one from your sponsor supporting the application.

The other things you need are:
- marriage certificate
- any divorce decrees if either of you were married previously
- 2 photos of you and your sponsor together
- evidence of living together for each year of your marriage, such as
   - tax annual returns
   - house deeds/mortgage statements
   - utility bills
- evidence of regular communication if you have ever lived apart since getting married (such as call logs, emails, messages, visits to see each other)

Oh boy so if we exclude the not so good stuff
I did a letter as the  sponsor
We  included the mortgage info  we have not had a mortgage for all our married life so I did include the paid off in full receipt
We have lived in the same house from 1995 until we closed and sold our home on Dec 28th 2018 ( I included the under contract info) as we closed on 12/28/18
I never sent the tax returns but sent a sample of utility bills over the past 2 years  years  and our home owners insurance with both our names covering 2 years
I also included our AAA 2018  statement which shows we have been a member since 1994, both our names are on it.
Of course the  Wells Fargo bank statements are in both our names except for our IRAs all  show the same address as the home we closed on
I also included our  USA HSBC premier account statements which we opened in June  2018 this has the savings in it.

I included pictures of our wedding in 1992 and covered the  span of our marriage holidys in South Africa and with family and friends I also included one picture from our cruise in Oct 2018 .

Hopefully this is enough if not I guess we will reapply.
We used ias to prepare the application .. and they told us what docs we needed ..maybe not the best decision but we can only move forward an hope for the best

Happy weekend, guys...so another week has passed! Hope you're all managing to keep your spirits up.

We decided to pay for the email service (I know, I know  ::)) and received the following canned response:
"Dear XXX,
Thank you for contacting UK Visas and Immigration International Contact Centre.
With regards to your enquiry about the status of your application, I can confirm that your application is being considered and is currently awaiting a decision.
If your documents have not been received you would have received e-mail regarding them since you have not received email about them it means that they have been received as its currently awaiting a decision.
We strongly recommend that you do not buy a non-refundable, non-flexible ticket to the UK, until your visa application has been approved and you have received your documents.
Regards,
UK Visas and Immigration
"

I'm sure this has already been covered but do you just reply to that email address to send them another message? I assume we'd also need to include our GWF and/or Reference Number too? I also plan to write to my MP (as some of you have) to illustrate just how poor this whole experience has been!

Happy Weekend  :D
Yes you just respond to the last email , I tried to cut and paste the address once and it did not work.

Yes include the GWF number if its been over 30 days since biometric they will ask for more information which will inlcude passport # , IHS number , full name , email address on the application , date of biometrics etc

I also sent hubbys priority receipt to the sheffield docs email just incase its sitting in the standard pile ( I  wrote priority on the UPS package back and front and had the priority receipt was on top inside.

I know sheffiled is still working  Monday but VFS maybe closed for presidents day.

My hope at this point (50WD ) is that we have been put in the standard pile and we will get news in the next 10 working  days..

VFS have nothing to do with this - the UKVI enquiry centre is run by a different company (in April 2014, it was a company called HGS but not sure if it still is that same company now), so that email came from a random call centre somewhere in the UK. Therefore Monday will be a regular working day for them, as they only observe UK public holidays.

Sorry I was not clear my reference to VFS being closed in mind was related to the passports and docs being returned.

So on Monday Of this week we reached out to our MP and they have been extremely helpful! She got back to us right away after reaching out to the office and said that on our application there were ‘unclear notes’ She wanted to do more research into this and reminded us that due to the ‘service level agreements’ they have to answer her in 5 days.
We hope that if they are missing something they will get back in touch with us. And are grateful the MP did not read the unclear notes to us without clarifying them first.

So we are looking forward to the end of this week to get some info from the MP and move forward with the process.
