Hi everyone! Quick update: I arrived in the UK late last night. Had the easiest time I have EVER had getting thru immigration (super friendly and chatty officer). Within 35 minutes of the plane pulling up to the gate I had deboarded, made it thru passport control, collected all luggage, made it thru customs and was on the train into London. Guess catching the flight that shows up at 11pm is good for something!

Collected my BRP about 2 hours ago and am now sorting out my phone. Shall check in soon!

Happy new year!!

I am applying from the US. We were in Australia for the past 4 years, so when my husband got a job in the U.K., it just seemed like to much hassle for me to wait in Australia bc he started work 2 months after he accepted the offer. We had to sell our house and move to England with 2 dogs. So I came initially on a tourist visa and now am flying out to the states to apply.

Hi, Lovepaperwork!  :). Where are you going to apply from?

Your Australian residency won't have any affect on the outcome of the spouse visa. If you are applying from Australia it actually might take a bit longer than if you apply from the US.
Met husband: April 2013
Married: June 2016
Applied Online: Jan. 16th 2018
Biometrics: Jan. 26th
Documents sent: Feb. 2nd
UPS tracking: received Feb. 5th
Confirmation email: Feb. 7th
Decision email: March 9th
Passport back: March 12th
Decision: Approval!!!

Yes I know that and it’s so frustrating! I’m allowed to be in the U.K. for 6 months, so if I was allowed to apply with in, the visa decision would be done with in the tourist visa time limits. Probably should have just applied in Australia this past July, but decided to wait until January and do it from the states since I’m an American citizen.

Any tips on how to get a biometric appointment the same day you send your application to Sheffield? I see some people have quite a long gap between to the two.

Just making sure you know you cannot apply from inside the UK.   :)

I just went to the VFS site to review the priority visa fees and they now offer a Gold Settlement Priority service that is $1600 USD. The only difference I see is that you get to keep your passport while they process your application. Has anyone used this service? Does it process your application much faster than the regular priority?

Happy New Year and good luck to everyone who is still awaiting a decision!! We FINALLY mailed my application from the US on 29 December. We both feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders that has now been transferred to the pit of our stomachs as the waiting game begins. Aghhhh.

Figure things might take a couple of extra days to get my confirmation email with New Years Day thrown in the mix. Will keep you all posted.

Looks like I might be the first one in the "Priority Spouse Visa Jan-March WINTER Timeline" thread!!

As always thanks for all the advice and support.
