Application Not Straight Forward email
« on: January 25, 2018, 03:20:51 PM »
Day 17 and I just received the not straight forward email for mine and my son's applications. Does this mean we are going to get refused? We applied under the Armed forces appendix. I realize it will take longer to get an answer, but I'm so terrified that this means we will get refused. They don't say what isn't straight forward. Is there anything I can do?

Someone else more knowledgeable will be around shortly, I'm sure, but until then to ease your fears, it doesn't at all mean you're more likely to get a rejection.

It means they didn't fall within their standards of time to process your application and by doing this they get off the hook for taking longer and are allowed 'unlimited' time.

This application has been in the making for months before sending in. As their sponsor I meet the financial criteria, just, but if it’s black and white then I do. We gathered ALL relevant documentation, double checked and triple checked before submitting. Cannot understsnd how it is ‘not straightforward’? Could it be because it’s an appendix armed forces? Any thoughts appreciated. ???

I'm sure it ticks all the boxes, it's not actually 'not straight forward' it's, 'we haven't gotten to it and we need to buy time.'

Not to mention if you've put everything needed, I wouldn't worry too much, just sit tight and wait some more :/

That’s the thing, at only business day 17 it’s still well within timescales as a priority application. And judging how all other priorities are coming through I can’t think it’s for that reason.

Do you want to post a list of everything you included and see if we can figure it out?  We figured it out the other day for someone else.  :)

Being an Armed Forces application would NOT flag up the not straight forward email.  It's likely there is documentation missing that they will be requesting.  Sometimes it takes a few days for that request to come through (sometimes never at all).

Did you send this?

a letter from their sponsor’s Unit confirming the date of their enlistment and their expected final date of service with HM Forces;

a letter from the unit referred to above. If the letter is not recent (dated within the last 6 months), caseworkers may wish to contact the unit concerned, to ensure that the service details provided remain valid and:

Don't freak out.  It's likely to just take a little bit longer to process.  There is probably a document they want and they'll ask for.  Really, don't worry!  It's not a refusal!
