I'm sorry, I feel like I brought the Arctic air with me. This is brutal when you have to wait outside for trains! (something new to me after always having a car from 18 on in the US.)

Bring on spring please! :)

We shut the water off today for a good chunk to do some bathroom DIY so no heating on during the daytime. We also had the windows open for ventilation when doing demo...It was COLD. Heat is now cranked and I'm layered up and with blankets haha.

I thought we were done with this crap?! Either way, I won't complain as I know my family back in the US are up to their neck with snow.
My, how time flies....

Thank god for that! This winter has been brutal in our new house with crappy windows and crappy heaters. New windows coming soon though

Our 35 year old son moved back last September after living in Texas and Louisiana for 31 years and I think he will be suing us for false representation after we assured him that hard winters were rare these days. He has a 30 minute commute to work, up and down some steep hills and had never driven in ice or snow before.

Well, by 'warming up', I mean 'back towards the temperatures we had last week' :P. Looks like about 8 degrees or so for middle of next week.

Could I place an order for either last Wednesday or last Friday's weather, please?  ;D

Wednesday I was able to wash and dry all my bedsheets outside and remake the bed with them (no folding duvet covers and fitted sheets! yeah!) and just yesterday, DH and I went for two walks in the sun. Now it's snowing!

Bring on spring!

I worked today and spent the whole day assuring people that 1) not everywhere in the US is warm all the time and 2) we do have snow in March quite often in Ohio.  I don't know about the rest of the country but we had small flurries all day in southern Essex, none of which settled. Had people calling all day amazed that we were open and saying that they couldn't possibly make it in to return their books.  Was quite chilly waiting for the replacement rail service this morning, though.  And to think that we had the windows open yesterday!

I'm just so tired of being cold and damp.  I want the air to be warm.  Not hot!  Just warm.

It's even worse back home so it isn't UK specific but pretty much the only thing getting me through this is researching a possible city break next month to somewhere a bit nicer, weather wise.

We have only been back in the UK 3 years, but this year was a lot worse for me than any I can remember (17 years total). We had the floods from 2 years ago, but that didn't really hit this area. But, at least even then there were dry stretches....I don't know why I still remember but we went 15 days with no rain here in February that year. It just seems we can't get more than 2 days without rain this Winter. I gave up walking down the river....mud just got too deep. Golf course fairly constantly closed. But after freezing a lot of my younger days in cold houses....I turn the heat up now. We keep the house at around 20C. If I get to feeling chilled I bump it up another .5C or so.....I wear a long sleeve t-shirt and a thick fleece as well. I don't mind cold outside (my usual 5 mile walk this morning)....I even tried to get transferred to Iceland a couple of times while I was working....but inside, I want to be comfortable. Nothing worse to me than sitting around trying to stay warm.

We got hold of my wife's old neighbor who is a plumber/heating guy. Our boiler just wasn't doing a good enough job. We could take showers, but baths just wouldn't get hot enough. I just told him to replace it with something that WILL heat the damn water and spit it out fast enough to fill the bath in less than a year. Waiting for him to install it. It's either that or I might just buy the hot tub I keep putting off.
