Thank you so much!

Instead of solely hijacking this thread for my own drinking ends, I can be of further help. I've got an email off a recruitment agent who specialises in marketing roles at another agency. Had a squiz, and they certainly work with lifestyle/fitness sector. Here are the contact details, in case they're of use to you:

Charan Rai
charan.rai@media-contacts.co.uk
www.media-contacts.co.uk

(I am sometimes contacted by these types of agents because there is theoretically some crossover from my part of the comms industry, which is much more specialised.)

Congratulations! And no worries I'm getting used to interviewing at this point. It's allowing me to get quite familiar with all the tube routes and stations in London Lol. I'm quite grateful at this point to have at least a part-time contract. Had another interview for a fitness marketing position yesterday and have another one next week. *Fingers crossed

Thanks everyone for good luck wishes, I just signed the contract a few minutes ago and start Monday.  I was negotiating like crazy to delay the starting date but they were having none of it.

I'll be driving around the m25, a commute that takes 30 minutes on a good day and can take hours if the M25 is jammed up.  Maybe a bit less miserable than taking the train to the city, but I'll miss my daily walk.

Good Luck EvyF, don't feel bad because I found a contract in a month while you've been looking for longer.  It's a different market with different timescales.  If you do want me to send you a copy of my CV, PM me your email.  I can't attach it to a private message.

If you are getting interviews then you should do fine.  Once of those will come through.

I just had a telephone interview with two guys from a major bank and had my butt handed to me on a plate!  Even worse, the agent told me it was going to be about one aspect of data warehousing, so I studied the heck out of that.  Then they asked me all these random theory and even History questions that I certainly hadn't studied.
Doh!

The only good news is that after that earlier contract was cancelled before I could even start, I messaged the end client on Linked in to thank him for the interview.  He really wanted me to work with them, and figured out that the real problem is the two layers of agents creaming money off the top.  He's called them to complain, so there is a tiny chance that could be back on again.

Thanks.  Here's an actual image of the telephone interview:

Just had another telephone interview with Groundskeeper Willie.  It went well, but I only caught every 7th word.  No idea what the job is.

Hey, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose! But you should somewhat blame the recruiter for getting what they'd be covering so wrong. :( I hope you find something in your desired salary range soon!

I could blame it a bit on the recruiter, I thought it was going to be a detailed technical test on SSIS and ETL.  Instead, it ended up being rather obscure questions about BI database design.  Lots were the kind of questions that only exist to show how smart they are, like they Googled some tiny detail and asked it like it matters to the job.  It would have been appropriate for someone being hired as a BI architect, but not an ETL monkey.

Hey Ho.

Hey Ho.

Mr Seahorse had an interview like that recently. Tech bros, man. But you wouldn't want to work in a place with a gotcha culture.

At risk of jinxing this once again, but the agent called me out of the blue and wants me to start Monday!

I think this means I will be required to fight XKissOfDeath on sight.  There can only be one mobile phone provider!
