I got carded for booze!  I mean, it was just the Amazon guy, but still...  He was apologizing profusely, and I was thanking him for thinking I was even in the ballpark of under-18.

But then he told me how Amazon are really cracking down, and it's now a sackable offense if the company finds out a driver delivered an age-restricted item without verifying the recipient's age from a government-issued ID (passport, driving license, BRP, etc.), and an 80-something year old woman had ordered something but has never had a passport or driving license, so had no proof of age, so she couldn't have her item.  The driver phoned back and was told not to deliver the item.  So, it was sent back and that was that.

So, I mean... the fact I was carded isn't really a big deal, unless that was an exceptionally youthful-looking octogenarian.  But for a minute, I felt pretty.  :)
They were supposed to ask me for ID for my new knife.  He just handed me the parcel and went about his day.

Wow.  They messed up.

It's funny... last week (or the week before?) I ordered two bottles of rum (I needed one, but there was a minimum quantity of two..?!!?!), and they just handed it off to me, no ID, too.  I asked this guy scrutinizing my driving license and tapping in my DOB in his little tricorder thingie how long this new policy has been in effect, and he seemed to suggest it's been a few weeks, so I mentioned my rum, and he visible winced.  I then thought maybe it was just this driver being one of those "If we're going to have rules, we must enforce them!" types, so I told my husband about it, and he said the same thing happened to him (had to show ID) for something he received, so the ID policy is real, but not all delivery drivers are on board with it.

Day 1 of bedroom renovations. I'm so glad I just decided to pay someone to do this. I'm painting the living room (with Stuart) and kitchen and that is enough!

We get the fridge/freezer and washer delivered on Friday. I still need to schedule a plumber to install our new electric shower and plumb in the ice maker.

And then we need to pick out the bedroom carpet and have it installed.

So maybe about 2 more weeks until we will be ready to move in.

Finally got around to listing some stuff for sale and putting some other stuff on freecycle.  If you guys want my Ipad, check it out in the for sale section, I don't want to put it on Ebay.

Good Lord, there is sooooo much stuff on freecycle

Called my bank in the US where I have an account. Not sure where their customer services is ,but got a lovely Southern drawl and just the best customer service.   You get so used to surly customer services here in the UK that it was quite refreshing to hear that.

If you need to make stateside calls, use Talkatone! It’s a free app that gives you a US number for calls and texts. I’ve used it to call my bank, my credit card company in the states, and text and call my brother. Excellent call quality and it uses your wifi......for FREE.

I changed my US Costco membership to a UK one! I'm currently eating Costco chicken tacos and I have a Cheesecake Factory mixed flavour cheesecake in the freezer.

Good customer service just makes such a difference! I was thinking about it and I want to say that I think it's a little bit better here than it was when we moved back.. but it could just be that I'm used to the way it is here now!  ;D

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Luckily, I was using a work VOIP so no worries on cost yesterday.   ;D

I think I was just thrown at just how nice she was.  So not used to that!  ;D
