Ooooh, shiny!  What did you get?  Is Mac still the go-to for music production?  There are so many applications now that are Windows-friendly, but Mac has historically been the platform of producers.

Man.  Woke up to brilliant sunshine (after a glorious day out shopping yesterday!), but now it's monsoon with bits of hail in it.  "Double black drippy cloud," for sure.  (That's how I describe the icon on the Met Office's forecast page... I told my husband that was today's forecast, as we were sipping our espressos in the sunshiney 'coffee shop' (a.k.a. utili-kitchen), but I didn't see how it was possible.  I see, now.)
Went with a thinkpadT590. Mac was the best, but they've kinda lost value for the money. I don't need top of the line everything because I'll always work with an engineer that does spend that kind of money and has mastered their craft, so I just needed good enough for me! I'm really looking forward to getting back into it. Need a multi input interface to be able to use our virusB synth and a midi controller, and then I'll be set. I'm applying for more jobs this week.

We are now homeowners! Stuart and I closed on the house today.

We can't get into it until later tonight though as Stuart works until 9pm.

Thoughts on buying a house in Scotland. It was easier than opening a bank account or getting an appointment with my GP.

Our viewing was on Sept 3. We made an offer a few days later. It was accepted that day then everything went super fast.  It almost feels like we didn't even have to do anything.

Our mortgage broker and solicitor handled everything. We just gave them bank statements, pay stubs and ID.

Congrats Tami!

I was at the demo today, then a few cocktails on a rooftop bar, then a slap up meal at my favourite Turkish place.

You guys don't need to worry, I'm taking care of politics here

So happy for you!  You totally deserve it after all the time you persevered in that poky wee flat!

I got carded for booze!  I mean, it was just the Amazon guy, but still...  He was apologizing profusely, and I was thanking him for thinking I was even in the ballpark of under-18.

But then he told me how Amazon are really cracking down, and it's now a sackable offense if the company finds out a driver delivered an age-restricted item without verifying the recipient's age from a government-issued ID (passport, driving license, BRP, etc.), and an 80-something year old woman had ordered something but has never had a passport or driving license, so had no proof of age, so she couldn't have her item.  The driver phoned back and was told not to deliver the item.  So, it was sent back and that was that.

So, I mean... the fact I was carded isn't really a big deal, unless that was an exceptionally youthful-looking octogenarian.  But for a minute, I felt pretty.  :)
