You did warn her.  It wasn't that !ong ago when entering via Calais was recommended on forums, but now UKVI and border officers record everything that is presented to them, even if entering via France or Ireland.

The article says that her spouse visa was refused .

Yes, it does.  I don't really like the article.  Hard to feel any sympathy for them, if that was the intention of the article.  Unfortunately I don't think this article is likely to make UKVI go back on their decision.  It doesn't tug at the heartstrings.

But I will always feel for anyone who is subject to UKVI.  Including all of those that have been successful with our visas all the way through.  I will also feel for anyone who is subject to USA border force.  It's just not a fun experience.  But one of those things we must do.

The comments at the bottom of these type of articles that appear every now and again when somebody didn't get  what they wanted, often don't get the sympathy they were perhaps hoping to get.

It's not just UK and US borders, everyone goes through this every time we enter another country, even if it is just to visit. Most go through ok, but others raise alarm bells with the border officers. Nobody is Entitled To enter another country.

I have a guess, based on the tone/language.  Someone's letting their bad side out to play.  ;)

Edit... I am now conflicted, as it sounds more like [other person]... definitely narrowed down to two people, though.

Crikey - UK Yankee forum member hits the headlines!

Well, I feel sorry for them - who wouldn't try and move heaven and earth and exhaust every possibility in order to make their 'official' wedding day?

They're a fine looking couple as well, very fairy tale romance.

Seems the comments below are purely driven by their financial standing of the family involved.

I guess the moral of the story for everyone else is never to make any sort of plans until the visa is in your hand.

Precisely.  This is the best advice this forum dishes out, and UK-Yankee serves a lot of good advice.

I agree.  In fact, we changed our plans based on the very same advice.

Originally, my other half was going to give notice at work and give notice on moving out the flat in early July (both one month's notice) based on an anticipated approval in late July / early August.

Based on reading advice here, we backtracked on that and plan to do *absolutely nothing* until we get some news, which will hopefully be next week (fingers crossed).  Until then, life goes on as normal.

It may ultimately lead to an awkward conversation at work due to the 1 month notice vs 30 day vignette issue, but better that than risk being stuck with no job and no home in the event of a delay or refusal.

Oh dear. Poor pumpkins. They thought the rules didn't apply to them and are now suffering the consequences of finding out they did.

I feel bad for those immigrating, applying for visas and jumping through hoops. It's a difficult, expensive and time consuming process which takes an emotional and financial toll.  I do not feel bad for those who decide to do it their way and feel entitled to follow different rules than the rest of us.
