We had two claps o thunder, one good lightening bolt, a lot of squealing from the gaggle of teenagers that were hanging around out front, and now it's just overcast and cool again.

Was worth it for the "eeeee", tho.  ;) ;)

Down here it was over 30 and sunny all day. I hid inside until it cooled down and we had a nice late dinner in the garden. No rain in the forecast right now either!

Well, I know where that lightening bolt hit, then!  We didn't even have a power blink, but I had to power down the computer and turn off the wall switches just to make sure it was safe. Then once I had it all powered down there wasn't another hint of thunder or lightening again.  The Daughter said it was like a sauna outside when she was coming home from work around 10:30. So I guess it rained just enough to get the pavement wet.

Saturday, we had a clap of thunder, blink of lightning ,and then a dip in power and that was the thunderstorm over. But the heavy rain persisted.

Everything is sooooooooooooo soggy outside.  And more rain this week.

You keep a weather warning device? OMG lol. sorry. i find that quite funny. Yes, it rains here. A lot. Most people sort of know this before they move here.

Who said anything about keeping a weather warning device?

If you’re talking about the first post in this thread, that was a YouTube video from the US - and the point of the post was that living in the UK, even though it rains a lot, means we don’t have to worry about that kind of weather here.

Yeah, it's rather nice to not have to worry about the sky opening and pummeling you to death with baseball sized hail or slamming your house into matchsticks and having the neighbors, if they survive, find bits of you all over the county that they have to scrape up and put in a bodybag. Weather radios are lifesavers, in places that have 'real' weather.

Soooo, the Daughter is telling me it didn't do this in the 2+ years she was over here on Ed Abroad. It didn't do this for the first two summers we were both here. Was that just a stretch of freakishly good weather, and this is what is "normal", or....? :o ???

Yes. This is normal.

We get flooding in the city centre every year. The last few summers, minus this summer, have been exceptionally fabulous.
