Yeah, well, like I said, she's a sweet old lady. I admire her wartime work, from 80 years ago. And she may write 'em, but that doesn't make them literary gems. Yes, her heart is in the right place. But it was kind of like getting a Hallmark Card. Lots of platitudes. Nothing of substance. Nothing to even inspire. And then the BBC (or whichever station it was) reading into every line she spoke whatever the meaning they wished to ascribe to it. It's kind of predictable, really, I guess. You know, "the Queen wore a blue suit. That means....xyz." "The Queen didn't go to this/or/other place. That means....xyz." To the point of trivialization of everything she does.
Didn't do a darned thing for me, but she's not my grandma. Maybe if she had been it would have meant more? So it was meant to boost morale, then?
