Jeffrey is going onto a ventilator for 2 weeks.  We were able to speak to him on the phone before they sedate him and do this.  Now we just wait. We shed a few tears this morning.

That must be incredibly scary. Hang in there durnamlad. We're all pulling for him.

Oh, Durhamlad, I've been watching this thread for updates.  I'm sorry you're going through this.  How were his spirits when you spoke?  At least he'll be sedated, so it shouldn't be too scary for him once he's on it.  Please keep us updated, especially when he improves.  Let us know if we can do anything for you.

For his age going onto a ventilator for Covid the chances of survival are 50/50 at best and when we spoke this morning he sounded positive but he knew that this might be our last conversation so it was a really tough phone call to get through.

So so SO MUCH love to you, your family, and Jeffrey.  I've been thinking about you ever since I first read about it, and I'm so sorry to hear.  Let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do.

We’re all thinking of you Durhamlad. Very hard thread to read while 5 days postpartum... honestly, I really wish there was something we could do to help. Please say the word.

I really wanna kick the crap outta the guy that exposed him to it.

Hard to read 7 years postpartum.  I’m hopeful that the person who exposed him had no idea.  I’m more upset at the employer for not having them work from home. I think employers and employees alike think the risk is low. It’s not.

Seriously Durhamlad, shout for ANYTHING!  Food, things, prayers, rituals, angry capital letter emails, anything!

What an emotional roller coaster this is. I suddenly got a text from him within the last hour or 2. The doctor has given him a “pep talk” saying that going on a ventilator might be a short term gain for him in relief of pain and discomfort now but will result in long term complications and weeks of recovery so they have put him on another type of CPAP machine to force more oxygen into his lungs.

Oh, I hope this helps and he doesn't need to get on a ventilator. I hope!

It must be good that this is an option rather than ventilating him being the only one.

Well this is a bit depressing:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/chile-coronavirus-vaccine-lockdown-whitty-b1827155.html
The didn't seem to answer the most burning question for me: Were the people who had the vaccine part of this huge increase in cases?  The only real number I see is %20 of people have had two vaccines, I guess that leaves %80 to still get sick?
