Hugs R!  I hope things looks up soon.

I spilled Vitamin Water (sugar eeps!) on my MacBook and a friend was able to fix it.  I dried it for a couple of days and then he opened it up and cleaned the sugar off the inside using a q-tip.  It works just fine a year later, no problems.  Just let it dry (preferably under a fan) for a few days and it should be fine.  Best luck.

I know people have way worse problems than me but feeling pretty miserable at the moment. :-(
(((Hugs R)))

This is the IA thread- for whatever is pissing you off- no matter how trivial- (and FWIW, I don't think your IA is trivial at all, it would piss me off as well!) so feel free to vent away here!!!  :)

Thanks :-( DH is going to open it up maybe tonight to see if there is any liquid left inside/to help it dry out better but its been in a warm, dry place with the clamshell open and upside down for about 5 days now and its just totally dead (i didn't attempt to turn it on for four days and its totally unresponsive). The really sucky thing is that it was on when I spilled the water, and as soon as the (unfortunately cold) water hit it it shut right off. Like it shorted out. So I'm pretty sure I just shorted out the logic board and its fried now. :-( I'll just have to wait and see how much it costs to fix it, and if I ever find a job...maybe I will be able to afford to fix it someday. I really love that stupid thing and its the only way I get my American TV fix. My husband's laptop won't play videos properly so I can't get on hulu.

Ohh huggs R! I hope your DH can sort your laptop out.  If it is your sanity, it is a must like water is a must.

I remember you were hoping to volunteer at a vet hospital - what happened? can you get your foot in a door at a rescue group and make some contacts!

You did what you love and your education is not pointless and something WILL come along that will amaze you someday.

Hugs, R. I've heard worse laptop near-death stories, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it can be resurrected.

I know it would suck, but could you possibly work temporarily someplace not within commuting distance of London for a few months, just to get some experience? That could help with finding a long-term job that's close to your DH's work location.

Sorry about the laptop Reinadeluz.  Give it a couple of days to completely dry out and then see how it goes.  Do you have home contents insurance?  A friend's bird pooed on his laptop and they replaced it. Also, I had a cat throw up on a Mac once and, after a darn good cleaning, it still worked, so there is hope.

Reinadeluz -on my old laptop, our dog ended up puking all over it. But luckily his father was able to dry it out, and then replace the keyboard on it, and was fine!

I'm sorry about your laptop Reinadeluz and hope it can be fixed.  I'm also sorry about your job hunt.  I remember it took months to find my first teaching job after leaving college and in the end I settled for a very low paid position with bad hours and wondered why I'd bothered to get a degree?  It was such a frustrating period of my life.  I hope you find something soon.

I'm frustrated with the job hunt as well, Reinadeluz. I feel your pain! Hope you get your laptop sorted.  :\\\'(

My IA: Had made some plans to go to Newcastle tomorrow to meet up with sheateawholepie and spend the night at her new flat, but then the hospital called to tell me they want me to come in tomorrow, so it looks like I'll be having another aspiration instead.  :\\\'( Hopefully I can get over there next week, it was just going to be really convenient to do it tomorrow.  :-\\\\

I totally hear you, I think I was up 3 times with heartburn last night (not counting my trips to the toilet or just not being comfortable)

My midwife actually said that for a lot of people Gaviscon doesn't work, and supported my method of treatment with Nesquick and milk :)

When are you due?

due on 26 november. 70% of me wishes it would just up and come out already! definitely harder the second time around, and pushing 40 doesn't help much! pah!

Temp agency messed up the date for my first shift, so I get all ready to have my first day of work this morning, go into town, get to the place where I'll be working, and the manager tells me I am meant to work tomorrow!  Grrrr!

I already can't wait for a stable job where I show up to the same place everyday and there's no middleman!

At least the agency said they would pay me for a couple of hours for today even though I didn't work.

I totally hear you.  I was 37 for no. 2 -- and he weighed just over 10 lbs. so you can imagine having that weight squishing everything inside. My sympathies!

At least you were told by the agency to show a day before you were actually supposed to and not a day after.   :)  Sucks still because it is a waste of your time today.
