Got turned away at the GP's office AGAIN. Apparently the bank statement that I handed them is simply anything but a bank statement  >:( I mean, it has my name, address, account number, two-month long list of transactions, bank heading. What more do they want?! The lady at the reception's office said that they want something at least three months old, which sounds like a load of BS. She, again, firmly denied that my bank statement was a bank statement  ::)

They keep saying that I should get a utility bill or tenancy agreement, but the bank statement was the quickest thing I could get (not to mention that I don't have a signed tenancy agreement nor can I get utilities in my own name), but they won't accept it even though it was on the list of documents that they accept!!! Also, the last time that I went to that office, when I asked about getting a bank statement, no one bothered to mention that I would need a three month-whatever bank statement. The list they gave me last time didn't specify a waiting period for bank statements, just that the documents had to be less than six months old.

Why are they giving me such a hard time?!  [smiley=behead.gif]

What is all this about?  I never had to show anything, just my passport and got signed up to NHS right away.

D has to go to the Lake District on Wednesday of next week to help his grandparents move.  So, he won't be back until sometime Thursday morning.  Oh joy, I get to do all the Thanksgiving cleaning and prep on my own.

First the washing machine and the hood over the cooker broke.  Both have been fixed for a couple of weeks.

As of last night, the cooker didn't want to switch on. Though, after some frantic fiddling with the switch it started working again.  It's only a matter of time though...

As of this morning, the toaster stopped working.

My appliances are staging a rebellion and I am not amused.

Buy yourself some marigolds.  Not the most stylish things, but they will prevent dishpan hands.

My IA is a snarky medical secretary.  I went private to have a procedure performed on my back over the summer and the consultant is billing me for the difference that Bupa paid out vs what he charged.  Prior to having the procedure performed I asked for and received in writing from his office that he accepts what Bupa allows.  I have not reached my benefit limit for the year.
I may be not be sharpest tool in the shed-after all I'm just a stay at home Mum-but I worked in insurance for 10+ years in the States.  Plus I have a child with special needs so I'm used to dealing with insurance from the patient side as well.  I know what my policy covers and doesn't cover.  Getting testy with me over the phone will only make me dig my heels in more.   >:(

I bought a bunch of books off Amazon for my husband last week and I just thought I'd have a look now and see why they haven't shipped yet... AARGHHH estimated deliver in January? What the crap, Amazon?

So I went over to the Book Depository and they've got the same books for cheaper and will deliver in 48hrs. So I went and cancelled the Amazon order. (But seriously what is it with Amazon that they suddenly get so crap around the end of the year? Do they not know that there's going to be a surge of orders? I mean, this happens every year!)

I do have them. Just hate wearing them! It was more of a "I can't live without my dishwasher" moan. And yes, I'm very spoiled.  ;D

Amazing how pre-dishwasher you didn't think twice about dunking your hands in the washing up bowl and getting on with it. But once you get used to the dang d-w its seems unbearable to even contemplate! I know the feeling  :(

This day has had a lot of IAs, but the biggest is the stupid clinic that DH went to for his visa examination. They told him (and the paperwork also states) that they would send his results to the Embassy, but we could pick up his copy one week after the exam. Well, we didn't rush because we weren't gagging for his results. I went today to pick it up and she hands me this huge envelope and says I have to send this to the Embassy. I said I thought they sent on the results. NOPE! We have to send them. So, they've been sitting there for an extra week. This is the same clinic who put the wrong information on his blood test, so he had to go back and have it redone. We're not really sure what the 320 euro paid for!!!  >:( >:(

Bmore sounds like they're pretty incompetent sorry to hear that. I hope ours is better than that considering they're just a few blocks from the Embassy in London. We've not heard anything and were told it would take 4 days to process and they'd let us know if there was anything to be concerned about...it's been 8 days so I'm assuming we're ok...now you're making me wonder.

Yes, yes, yes. We're creatures of habit. The Husband is going to give it a go at doing the repair himself or we'll soon be going dishwasher shopping because we can't live like this much longer. (Just in time for the already expensive enough holiday season, ugh.)

Ours is still sitting there looking sad -- one more reason not to do Thanksgiving dinner. Couldn't stand all that washing up by hand!

We must have the same GP! THREE times I went, brought what they had told me, and since the receptionist was different every time, it was never right. Finally I got one to sign her name to a list of stuff I would need and then went to get it.

The whole thing was weird so we called NHS Direct and asked them what we needed. They said just a passport with a valid visa and they gave me the number for our council person who was in charge of overseeing them and she said "if they don't take you as a patient with just your passport tell them that I sent you".

So it may be a good idea just to get the name and number of someone above the receptionists backing you up.

Honestly, I'd call to just make sure they received it.
