I just realized that the marks for our first paper are emailed today.  I don't think I passed (even though I tried my ars* off) and I'm so nervy to get my results.   :(

DH just got a call from the Embassy. They've received the medical results (seriously impressed with An Post!) and apparently we weren't supposed to send them in. He's supposed to bring them to his interview. Well, if someone had told us that it would have been helpful! She said it's fine, he's just supposed to tell them that they have the results when he goes for his interview. Then she says that he should be getting his interview shortly. He informs her that he's away until 19 December and is available as of the 20th. She goes, 'Well, that's Christmas week!' Apparently the public sector here does no work in the week up to Christmas.  ::) She says we're looking for a January appointment, which is fine because we wouldn't go before that anyways, but the kicker was when she said, 'You need to send your DS-230 and 2001 forms. Uh, we sent those a couple of weeks ago. When DH told her she said, 'Oh, okay.' No, not okay! You should have our file in front of you! Do you have them or not!?? So now I need to call and follow up that they actually have these forms.  ::)

The cat just sneezed on me. Blech!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Trying to get things washed and dried before I need to pack them. No time to wash jeans, so they'll all just have to go dirty!  :-X  It's like coming home from college with all my dirty clothes!

I know! Fortunately, my mom is so happy to see me she doesn't care that I dump a pile of laundry immediately into the laundry room!  :P

What is all this about?  I never had to show anything, just my passport and got signed up to NHS right away.
We must have the same GP! THREE times I went, brought what they had told me, and since the receptionist was different every time, it was never right. Finally I got one to sign her name to a list of stuff I would need and then went to get it.

The whole thing was weird so we called NHS Direct and asked them what we needed. They said just a passport with a valid visa and they gave me the number for our council person who was in charge of overseeing them and she said "if they don't take you as a patient with just your passport tell them that I sent you".

So it may be a good idea just to get the name and number of someone above the receptionists backing you up.

Thanks Andee and Danielle! I ended up just going to another GP office down the road. I showed them the same statement and received zero hassle. The receptionist even let me into the building even though it was a half hour before they opened! "We don't open until four, but it's cold so I'm making an exception today." Phew!

I figured that the rudeness that other receptionists showed me on the few times I went to that office wasn't worth dealing with every time I needed to see my doctor. My housemate also tried with a mobile bill for that particular GP office and though they recommended that I bring a mobile bill previously, they turned her away!  ::) She's going to try again though.

Argh, I still don't get it! That same statement was good enough for another GP's office and the British Library, but not for that little office!  >:(

That's mental.  Maybe they just feel they have too many patients at the moment and are picking at tiny reasons to turn people away.  Still, no excuse for bad behaviour though.

dh got a new phone last week and every waking hour has been spent playing with it.  He says to wake him up when I'm feeding the baby at night so he can keep me company and help me stay awake and all he does is sit and play freaking angry birds.
