Is this a dog that you foster in your home?

No... he is in a shelter in Spain, and I send money for his support.  I am really happy he has got a home, but will miss all the updates and pics and videos of his gorgeous self!  He is a big handsome white Podenco Canario and I am utterly besotted with him!

This weekend I will browse the shelter website and see who my next sponsor dog will be!  [smiley=smitten.gif]

Albatross, all I can say is you've earned your weekend.

KF, don't let your husband out of it.  You share that guilt.  Make sure he takes some of that burden.  Mommy might not have been there, but could Daddy have made it, or was he too focused on work?  </instigating>

My five:

1.  My neighbour came by at her usual random time yesterday for our weekly catch-up.  I hadn't showered for two days yet and I was feeling a bit gross. But what could I do?  At least I brushed my hair so, while greasy, it was somewhat kempt.

2.  We haven't finished sorting out the workshop after rearranging it, but I got out there this week, anyway.  Nothing is where I think it should be!  I let my husband find homes for things while I sorted through our offcuts box to see what's usable, what's burnable, what's Uuni fuel, and what's rubbish.  Regrets.  So many.

3.  I do kind of like the new arrangement, nonetheless.  We'll see if I still feel that way this weekend.  We're making doors for my workbench's cupboards, which is going to be a task.  Is the 'shop organized well?  Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion!

4.  It's still summer here.  And by that I mean, it's still sunny and dry.  It's cooled off a bit, so it's even better than before.  Yay!

5.  I'm going shopping soon.  Just as soon as I get my lazy self up and moving.

Yeah, this is a big reason he's on my "list" at the moment.  His Dad really wasn't involved in his upbringing - always focused on work.  My husband hates that his dad didn't get him involved in sports or do anything with him.  My husband has always really been into football and his dad never once took him to a game.  That kind of thing.

My husband is an EXTRAORDINARY father.  No doubt.  His kids ADORE him.  And he's awesome and amazing.  But he does let work come first.  He absolutely could have gone to the picnic.  I've gone to the farm days, Easter bonnet parades, gone in on the 4th and Thanksgiving, go to the Mother's Day breakfast, all that.  He doesn't.  And he should.  I don't want to dump on him, as he does do so so much for the kids.  But he needs to be willing to take some time out of work every now and then.

Does he not see...?  Maybe spell it out for him.  He's engineery, isn't he?  He probably isn't aware of this cycle perpetuating.

I think that he genuinely believes that not missing work is fair play.  But that he'll be active outside of work.  He needs a kick up the ass, that's for sure.

But what about the fact that YOU have missed work?  I would think there would be an expectation of equality in that regard, at least.  Or is his career more important?  ;) </instigating>

He doesn't think like that.  Both in that he doesn't think me missing work is relevant to him not missing work.  Nor does he think his career is more important.  He has a dick of a boss, and works for a very "good ole boy" company.  He's the only one married to a professional working woman.  Other wives may have part-time jobs or easy-to-miss jobs.  He's not married to one of those.  He knew what he was signing up for with me.  He just hates "being that guy" at work.  But he needs to realise they do not control him.

Those things were not in chronological order!  ;D
I ate some ribs, which were awful, so I boaked.
Then went to the pub and had the awful Gillian swarming all over me sniffing my neck, grabbing my hand, playing with my hair, touching my thigh, inviting me to come over to hers sometime.... she is married, and I'm as good-as married, so ... GONNAE NAW!  >:(
Then heard something bad about my friend, then got the speed camera aimed right at me as I flew over the Erskine Bridge at 15mph over the posted speed, then cried about the hound after I got home.
"Gonnae naw!" Lmfao

Pure braw!

Friday? Really? Wow, the days just blend....

1) Ordered myself a food dehydrator today from Amazon. I like to store food back, from when it's in season and cheap. So, I'll be drying onions, garlic, apples (not all at the same time!) and making the Daughter her favorite beef jerky when the machine arrives. Have to admit, I've missed good beef jerky. And it's so darned easy to make! Have to get it really dry here, though, and then store it in a zippy bag or it'll go bad, I think.

2) Harvested a dozen good cayenne peppers today to string up to dry in the kitchen. The jalepenos got a bit dry while we were away, even though I watered the beejeezus out of them before we left, and dropped most of their blossoms. There's a half-dozen fruits, and lots of new blossom buds, so fingers are crossed. I've never really grown jalepenos on a windowsill before.  The Ring-o-Fires are still fruiting like mad. Moved the rosemary, which was not looking happy, from the back (indirect light) sill to the front (southwest facing) sill. Hope it is happier there.

3) Just got back from a walk to Waitrose. Bought more Braeburn apples and will be firing the canner up again tomorrow. Dropped the "mystery box" parcel off at the PO, and they said you'd have it Monday or Tuesday, Albatross. Also sent in my request for reissuance of the tax check. (Tracked. Oh, jeez....) The pound was at $1.29 for a while yesterday, so that's good if it stays low or goes lower.  ;)

4) They are showing "Miss Marple" on TV all week it seems. Which is great, I love those!

5) I had to put a sweatshirt and jeans (no T-shirt and shorts) on to go out into the mist today. (Yes, really.) It's GORGEOUS out. Back like it's supposed to be! I can breathe! My skin isn't burning from the sun. My eyeballs are not searing in pain from the bright.... Ah, Scotland the way it's MEANT to be.  ;D

1.  **it's PAYDAY!!!**
2.  weird night last night... got massively hit on by a girl,  heard some nasty news/rumour about one of my best friends, had terrible dry baby back ribs, half of which got boaked up, probably got nabbed by a speed camera and sobbed for an hour after finding out that my sponsor dog has finally been re-homed.
3.  got to remember to pick up a Boots.com order at the shop on my way home
4.  NOT working this weekend!
5.  Worst thing about being 55 -- facial hair!  It's like a full-time job keeping on top of it!  >:(

RE the dog situation - is there anyway you could find out who has adopted the dog and see if you could still get updates??

Sounds like your weekend is definitely earned indeed.

Don't just leave that without any explanation!  Hit on by a girl?  Boaked up? I don't know that word, is it something that lesbians do with ribs?  Enquiring minds want to know

I too was wondering about what "boaked up" meant.

Those things were not in chronological order!  ;D

Oh man...please tell me you told Gillian to piss off!

Friday!!!!

1.  Feel like a proper sh*t mother this week.  On Tuesday my daughter had a settling in session at her school that she starts at in September so I didn't get to work until nearly 11am.  On Wednesday, she had a family picnic at nursery at 2:30 in the afternoon that I just couldn't get to, as I came in so late on Tuesday.  She was SOOO upset Wednesday night that she didn't have her Mommy or Daddy there.  Ugh, Mom guilt is at 100% right now.  I MUST NOT put work ahead of my little girl.  But it's so hard, I can't do everything.  But I need to try to.

2.  Going to try to make it up to her this weekend by going to a pick your own farm where SWEETCORN is in season.  Sweetcorn is her absolute favorite food in the world, so she is really excited.  Just going to spoil her with my time and attention this weekend.

3.  In a real quandary on what to do with the rental house.  Do we sell or keep it?  I think we are starting to lean towards keeping it and figuring out another way to finance our extension.

4.  Diet is going alright.  I've lost a solid 10 pounds.  I've started a new plan this week and hope to really stick with it and see some good results.  It will be nice to fit back into my pre-baby clothes.  Ready for my ultimate goal?  I want to be able to see my lady area when I look down!  Lol.  Got to have goals!  Once I get there, I will be happy.

5.  I've been a bit frustrated with my husband lately.  He's getting too focused on work and not enough on what really matters in life.  He does this from time to time.  Hopefully he snaps out of it soon.  :P

So firstly, you're not a bad mom at all...so just stop that.

Secondly, RE the weight loss - well done! :) I imagine the dance classes will help as well (as will this humidity tha tmakes you sweat lol)

Thirdly, I can relate to what you're saying about hubby focuses as my husband will do this but with lists of 100000 chores where he will end up not making time for other things that matter. Have you tried to jut let him know that you're feeling that way right now? Might help him realise that he's doing it if he was unaware and snap him out quicker than he would snap out naturally.

JF - how are you enjoying the freedom to go out and do your own shopping now that you've had to car for a bit now? :)

Friday? Really? Wow, the days just blend....

This is my exact sentiment right now lol

1. I've got my very first hen-do this weekend. We're doing Go Ape tomorrow morning at 9:30, followed by a picnic. Then, in the afternoon, it's pizza, cocktails, and hangout at the bride-to-be's. Then Sunday we have Brunch followed by a spa day.

2. With the spa day, I'm getting a proper neck/back/shoulder massage. This will be my first ever actual massage as well and I am probably more excited for it than you even know! I can't wait to get a proper bit of relaxation in!

3. My car is supposed to have the AC re-gassed tomorrow as is my husband's daily driver...that's first thing in the morning. He's meant to drive me to the go-ape activity and do pickups/drop-offs for me so I'm sure I won't hear the end of how helpful he's been to me this weekend....I can already feel my eyes rolling out of my skull

4. I actually won a contest for once in my life! I won two tickets to a beer-banquet type thing in London on Wednesday night. I really do want to go but I have a feeling my husband will want to b*tch out of it as it's a school night so I will probably end up having to pass on the second contest I can remember winning in my life lol. Just my luck!

5. Big fiasco happening with our Japan Airbnbs but it may end up working in our favour (still too early to know). There was a new law introduced making it harder for people to rent out their rooms/flats and they need to present license numbers to Airbnb - to simplify the issue. 2 out of the 3 places we booked apparently still don't have their license number so Airbnb have emailed me to let me know and to help us understand our options (this is just a standard email they've sent to everybody in this position). We've spoken to the hosts who've said they have no ETA on when they'll receive the numbers as it's pending with the government who supposedly haven't given them any type of timelines. Airbnb appear to be saying that if we cancel those places now, they will refund us the cost of the rental + they will give us that same cost in Airbnb credit (+ and additional $100 to spend on airbnb activities). I'm just trying to get this 100% confirmed by them to make sure I'm understanding it all correctly and they aren't being dodgy with fine print but it appears we could actually get a BETTER place to stay/double our budget by cancelling now and re-booking with them so fingers crossed that's the case (and that we don't end up just booking AGAIN with somebody without their license...). I just want to get this resolved as we're almost 2 months again from our flights and if everybody is having this problem now, there might be issues finding new flats to book....UGH.
My, how time flies....

I imagine it's obviously worse for you having two kids where I'm just getting irritated that we aren't doing things together and I know he means well as he's just trying to get all the DIY stuff done so we have time to do fun things later, but it feels like there will never not be these things to do. I'm not asking him to not do them full stop, just find some time on weeknights or on the weekends to do something together other than eat lunch/dinner together while watching a netflix episode. He complains when I buy a new board game that we never have time to play it but then when I suggest "lets play such-and-such game!" he'll be like "noooo I have to work on the car...umm okay.

I am very happy for him, but I'm going to miss him!  Also, I'm a bit jealous and HATING where we live, cos I can't really have a dog here.
