Oh man...please tell me you told Gillian to piss off!

I should have, but she was drunk, so I let her away with it.  Thankfully I don't see her that often!

I imagine it's obviously worse for you having two kids where I'm just getting irritated that we aren't doing things together and I know he means well as he's just trying to get all the DIY stuff done so we have time to do fun things later, but it feels like there will never not be these things to do. I'm not asking him to not do them full stop, just find some time on weeknights or on the weekends to do something together other than eat lunch/dinner together while watching a netflix episode. He complains when I buy a new board game that we never have time to play it but then when I suggest "lets play such-and-such game!" he'll be like "noooo I have to work on the car...umm okay.

Seriously.  Did we marry the same guy?

It's taken me all day to figure out what I could say for my 5, after initially thinking I might skip this week because coming up with 5 things is challenging.

1. Off work indefinitely, but at least they are paying me. But that does me no good if they refuse to implement anything recommended by occupational health.

2. It's very frustrating that they aren't working with me. I was given a project that would've had a high impact for the branches and would've been done by Monday or Tuesday. It wasn't rocket science, and I would've learned pretty much every system I needed to by the end of it. (I had been playing around, but using a system is how you learn it!)

3. I need to find something to shake off this gloom. I can't get fresh air where we are because it's too close to an A road that's always busy. Heat + pollution = bleurgh. So I am hoping my husband is up for visiting his parents and a trip to the beach. Or anything.

4. I asked my husband to plan something fun for us to do for my birthday, because we've not really done anything since I moved. It never happened. We went for free prosecco at Prezzo. He's yet to plan even a date. So... I think we may all be married to people stuck in their ways ;)

5. Where is our rain??

Yeah, this is a big reason he's on my "list" at the moment.  His Dad really wasn't involved in his upbringing - always focused on work.  My husband hates that his dad didn't get him involved in sports or do anything with him.  My husband has always really been into football and his dad never once took him to a game.  That kind of thing.

My husband is an EXTRAORDINARY father.  No doubt.  His kids ADORE him.  And he's awesome and amazing.  But he does let work come first.  He absolutely could have gone to the picnic.  I've gone to the farm days, Easter bonnet parades, gone in on the 4th and Thanksgiving, go to the Mother's Day breakfast, all that.  He doesn't.  And he should.  I don't want to dump on him, as he does do so so much for the kids.  But he needs to be willing to take some time out of work every now and then.
Funnily enough, Mrs jimbocz and I recently had a row over this as well.  Things are piling up because it's the end of the year and there's an endless amount of permission slips, costumes and events to attend.  I was supposed to deal with much of this stuff while she was in France for the funeral and I didn't do as much as I should have.    One night, we got an email at 9PM saying that the kid needed to be dressed up as a Greek THE NEXT MORNING!

The final straw was the Leavers Assembly, which she never officially told me to take time off for and I forgot.  Since I know work at Meetings.com, where no workday is complete without at least 4 meetings about nothing, I had actually scheduled a meeting myself for that morning and I simply couldn't take the time off.  She was angry and jimbocz jumior was disappointing.

The final result was a big apology from me to her and junior.  And a promise that I will try harder.

Seriously though, any workplace that looks down on people taking time off to take care of your kids should be told to bugger off.

It's Friday!!

1. My new store opens on Wednesday. I can't wait! It's such a beautiful store. All nice and shiny, beautiful new fixtures, gorgeous lighting, stunning beauty department,  innovative healthcare department... And the same manky photo lab equipment only it's just hidden in the basement. I did get a new fridge/freezer even though it is a quarter of the size. Lol  I moved the photo lab myself. My "photo team" was delegated other tasks so I packed up, coordinated the move with the engineers and set up the new lab. I'm almost done! I have off 1 day (This Sunday) for the last week and next.

2. Got into an argument with my husband over the car. He received a notice from Nissan that it is due a service. This service is £300 through Nissan or £179 at Halfords.  I told him absolutely not. It only needs an oil change... we can check all of the fluids and tire pressure for free ourselves. He seems to think we need to pay someone to check the fluids and tire pressure or else our warranty will be void. Thanks Rip Off Britain.

3. I get to see one of my kids really soon! In  9 days!

4. My iron levels look good! I'm calcium and magnesium deficient and I need a new multi vitamin (DEKAs) which are hard to find here. I'm importing my first batch from the Netherlands but I should be able to special order them from Boots as the NHS supplies them to people with cystitis fibrosis. I just need to price shop them.

5. I'm thinking about how to skive at work most of the day tomorrow.  Lol.

Yup!  And “they” are obsessed with vehicles having “full service history” preferably from the dealer.

Don’t even get me started about my husband and his car (his first car he has owned and not been a company car).

I pay for the car and insurance. I told him I'm not paying for this as it isn't necessary. The car only has 7000 miles on it!! I told him he can spend his own money on it. My kids know how to check the fluids and tire pressure on their own cars for goodness sake.

I hate to complain about him but he's too metro sexual... not a mans man at all. But if I want to go shopping or have a spa day, he's my gal.

4.) My garden is growing leaps and bounds from the warm temperatures and all the rain we are finally getting

The car should have a service log where it says exactly what is needed at each service.  If you feel confident about doing everything listed, then fine.  Also, do you know how to turn off the flashing wrench on your dashboard?

Are you asking for a "friend"?

I've always Googled how to turn off the service light on my cars.

I used to be a locksmith, specializing in high security automotive locks, keys and remotes. I had a niche market in which I further specialised in Toyota and Lexus, i.e., removing and reflashing ECM's in order to bypass an isolated key programming system.

If I can dodge a wrench, I can dodge a ball.

I can’t do any of that, but even I can get the service light off.   ;D

Did you end up getting out over the weekend for some fresh air?! I really hope you did!

As for the husband planning dates, if I were you I would just tell him that you want to go out on x-night and you want him to plan it. Sometimes you just need to be blunt, even though I hate that sometimes with partners it comes down to this.

I feel like we got one light night of rainfall and that's all she wrote.....Somebody told me it's meant to hit the 30's this week...Umm....

This is one of those rare occasions that I actually approve of my husband wanting to do labouring himself! We save SO much money yearly on car maintenance because garages sometimes just rip you off when it's a "piece of p*ss" (husband's explanation, not mine. I'm clueless with cars lol) to just do yourself.

Glad to hear about your iron levels! :D It's time you caught a break!

I've tried the "let's plan something", but it's hard because it's unpredictable when I'll have a bad day or if the environment in a place will drive me away. I'll just have to plan a proper short getaway when the job stuff is settled. I'd wanted to go home, but I'm not sure when that can happen now because I will need to save anything I earn til I have a new job (because I don't anticipate this company will be willing to work with me given the past few weeks).

We did go visit a jeweller to make plans to replace his lost wedding ring, and really enjoyed having lunch on the patio in the artist group there because it was smoke free. Then we went to IKEA and got the last of the organizational things so I finally finished unpacking. And I went through all my medical records to find the allergy ones, and discovered I was labelled a depressed patient and loads of other not nice things on my journey to finally being diagnosed with EDS. I cry when stressed, I can't help it - it just happens no matter how many CBT type methods I try, and doctors appointments when you're sick with no diagnosis are incredibly stressful!

It rained Friday night but no more. And that caused an asthma attack so I'm a bit scared for the next storm. :(

Of COURSE you were a depressed patient!  Anyone who is in pain or knows something isn't right with their body and isn't getting any answers would be depressed!  Don't let that get you down.  :)

And the rain 100% missed my house.  Our local weatherman (who is awesome), said the clouds literally evaporated over us even though it poured in Reading and Bracknell.  So technically, Winnersh is still on track to break the 35 days with no rain record.  We'll break it tomorrow if no rain.
