Movies not to rent...
« on: July 01, 2008, 11:16:50 PM »
tonight the BH and I rented CLOVERFIELD...and it was absolutely terrible. I gave it a 0/10 and she will normally watch movies others hate...and love them....She gave it a paltry 5/10.
for me there was no character development...where did the monster come from? What happened after....etc..It was the Blairwitch with godzilla.

So if you are like me and wished someone would have told you how bad the movie is before spending money on it..... Post here...help each other spend their money and free time more wisely...

Happy movie nights

Cloverfield had a big thumbs down for me...it was poo..It early topped my ultimate hated / poo / boring films list

The Horse Whisperer / Space Jam / Moonlight In Valentino / The Day After Tomorrow / The Core / The Cabin / Dog Soldiers / Jeepers Creepers (cool film until a man jumps out in a rubber suit looking like a mighty morphin power ranger badie ) urrgghhh..I could go one forever...

Night of the Living Dead for the same reason I hated Straw Dogs.

...screaming at the stupid b!tch who just stands there and gorps when she should helping - gets the blood pumping but leaves me bitter and angry   >:(

Recommend - Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie (really!) and TV show to remedy said outrage.

We have a fairly eclectic taste in movies....
She loves what most people call chick flicks....dramas...comedies...etc...
I will try to watch just about anything..Short of japanimations..I just can't get into it at all.
We both love comedy, drama...and horror films..although she can stand horror more than myself. The Exorcist just freaks me out.
Dreamcatcher.

Never has a movie made me want to take my own life.
I absolutely agree.....

I pretty much favor watching mostly indie or foreign films at this point. It seems that there aren't many good films produced in Hollywood anymore unless it's some comic book movie or a very big budget one, ie: Sex in the City, fantasy films, musicals or the like. There are a few good big budget movies, but really stupid romantic comedies still keep getting made, like 'Fool's Gold'. I don't understand this. I still love Disney/ Pixar type movies quite a lot. I think 'Finding Nemo' is up there in my top 15 movies of all time.
We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

It could just be one of those things.  If you like Christopher Guest then you do, but I don't think Monty Python is very funny, except for Holy Grail and Life of Brian.

Meh.

Meet Joe Black

I normally like slow movies, but I was so bored in this film I wanted to shout "Die already!" every time Anthony Hopkins came on the screen.  I think it's about 10 hours long.  My sister liked it but only because at the time she liked anything with Brad Pitt in it.

Eyes Wide Shut.  Ugh.  I think this movie was nothing more than an excuse by Kubrick to work with Nicole Kidman naked.

The Life of David Gale.  Even though I agree with what they're selling, I thought the movie was pompous self-indulgent crappola.

This is going to seem morbid...but I thought the scene where Pitt was killed had alot of creativity....The movie was horribly long.....
