I'm arriving in Harrogate on Oct 26 and would love to participate in the book-club (since reading is all I'll have to do for at least a couple of weeks!)  Was a specific meeting location chosen yet?

Wow, another American in Harrogate and the Yorkshire area--yaay!!  It's going to be at swelch2's house in Harrogate.  I'm still undecided myself if I'm going to participate or not...

I'm not sure if swelch2 is planning to have it at her flat, or another venue in Harrogate - such as a coffee/tea room/restaurant, etc...  Oh swelch2 - where are you?  :-*  :)

It was my understanding that most people living in Harrogate were actually Americans, but no one is allowed to acknowledge/talk about it.   ;)

So looking forward to it!

Great to have you on board exjerseygirl!  And I wasn't planning on having it at my flat mostly because the DH will be home and I am not sure he is going to want to come to the meeting :)  I will decide soon!!

As for the Americans in H'gate, yes, there are tons.  I hadn't noticed many until this weekend when they were everywhere!  haha  I think Andee meant that there was another American in H'gate WITHOUT a connection to Menwith Hill :)

The book is Petite Anglaise if you hadn't noticed in previous posts :)

Can't wait to meet you!  Do let me know when you arrive and we can get together!!!

Oh, I've got a connection to MH alright (the reason that I'm relocating to H'gate), but just don't tell anyone about it.  :-X

I'm a huge travelogue/life-changing-experience-in-a-foreign-country book fan, so Petite Anglaise is right up my alley.

Welcome, exjerseygirl.  AFAIK, the rest of us on the thread (so far) don't have ties to the secret place you mentioned.  But yes, there are lots of Americans in/around Harrogate.  :)

What's Menwith Hill? ???

Not sure of specifics but if you drive to H'gate and notice huge white golf balls marring the beautiful scenery-thats MH :)  And yes, I do think they mess up the scenery haha  Wait till you see them.

I don't personally know anyone that works there or has connections there.  I am jealous as I want to shop there!!  :)  hint hint anyone  :P

Alrighty...for a venue.  Due to the crabbiness of my not so DH at the moment (;) )  I have decided to have our meeting at a cafe called Milan's in Harrogate-It has food and pastries and coffee and drinks, whatever you'd like!  There is an upstairs so we can seclude ourselves if need be :)

Once we find out how many are definitely in and how they are coming, we can decide a meeting place :)

If anyone has any objections to Milan's let me know and I can brainstorm for another place!

Nooo!!!  Well, you will definitely have to join us in December-no getting out of it :)  Let me know once you get here and get settled, we can meet up for tea or a coffee if you've got time!!
