Please help ---- a second situation-- I am having to leave here too.

PLEASE if there is anyone in the area of southeast Essex border of northeast London, who can take me in temporarily, with my cat and the belongings in boxes that I had shipped over, please, anyone at all , I will sleep on the couch, it's desperate and I would not ask if things happening here were not serious.

I am so sorry, please any help at all.

Oh, I'm so sorry.... I would definitely extend a friendly welcome if I weren't hundreds of miles from that area!   :(  You are having such a rough time lately.... I'm so sorry to hear it.  I hope you find a safe place to stay very soon.  Please let us know how things are going for you.

Thanks Jewlz, you are so sweet.

I had a very kind offer of a lead on a place  on the other side of London but now do not know if that has fallen through.

Though originally asking about anywhere in Essex/London border region, I'm now expanding my hopes to ideally anywhere at all in either the greater London region and all the surrounding counties -- doesn't have to be Essex, can be Bucks, Herts, Sussex, Kent etc etc.........at this point if it is within a couple/three hours drive, I have someone who can drive me and my cat and my things.

Basically any of the home counties as I'm assuming that at least the work situation may have more opportunities in that cluster of counties plus London.

It's a horrible time of year to be needing help, right before Christmas when everyone is either busy, preoccupied or plain out of town...thanks for the support I've already seen on this board, everyone. :)

www.gumtree.com

Thank you for this sweetpeach.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I've also been looking on the London craigslist (thank god that puppy is universally online!)

Hoping now to land work in some kind of live-in position though it won't get me out of here as immediately as I'd really like. I just hope wherever I land up is not going to be even worse, the buck has to stop somewhere at some point, or this is starting to look like the middle "wandering bits" of the Jane Eyre storyline, or some bits of Tess of the D'Urbervilles.... >:(  Never wanted to be Tess....had thought I was going to be The Notebook (minus the Alzheimers!!)

The live-in thing sounds like a great idea... I see loads of jobs like that around here.  Hope your holidays aren't too crappy.  It sounds like you are doing your best.  I am sure things will have to turn around soon!  Hang in there!!!

Thanks Jewlz! As we speak I am applying for live in positions. Desperate to get away from the place I'm in, really truly desperate...

Were you not able to use any of the contacts people gave? Women's Aid, etc.?

Those places won't let me bring my cat. I'm trying to get straight into a living situation somewhere if I possibly can, rather than have to go to a refuge home or shelter.

I don't want to foster him out; this cat would literally pine and die, this much I know about him, and I would too -- he's all I've got that helps me make it through a day.

Did you contact them, or are you just assuming?  You never know!

Good luck.

Some women's shelters have a working relationship with an animal shelter or rescues.  When I volunteered with a shelter, we had breed rescues who came in and pulled animals if we had one of their breed.  Many animal shelters also have a foster network, which would put the cat in a home environment.  Where I volunteered, we required that the owner remained involved with the animals we fostered in DV (domestic violence) situations.

If you are in danger, so is your cat. It would not be unheard of for an abuser to use an animal as a means of control.

If you cannot find a situation accepting you both, please consider putting the cat into foster care so that you're both safe.  If I were closer, I'd give fostering your cat a go.  Unfortunately, I live in Texas---way too far away.  Good luck to you.

I can understand that.  He's been through a lot too.  Cat's are real creatures of habit and he's had a lot of upheaval.  Plus he's your "security blanket" I imagine -- the one critter you feel you can trust.
Good luck in finding a live-in situation for you and Puss.
