I agree with you on this, he allowed it to happen too quickly.   Perhaps using Locke's body is it? Or maybe something to do with Sun since she is the only woman in a long time who was able to give birth on the island?

Yes, it was way too easy. 

Sun didn't actually give birth on the island.  Jin was infertile until he came to the island and it was then that Sun conceived.  Sun gave birth to Ji Yeon off the island.  Claire conceived off the island but gave birth to Aaron on the island.  Aaron or Ji Yeon could be the loophole.  But I kind of think the whole loophole thing is wishful thinking by Apep/Set since Jacob/Sebek-Ra is immortal. Or the loophole could be a red herring.

Lots of clues were given through-out the series.  Horace (Horus), Richard Alpert (Ra), Miles Straume (malestrom).  To name a few.

Well, Desmond was told by Eloise that it was his destiny to be on the island.  And she visited him after Ben had shot him. 

Desmond did sail around the world which might equate him to Ulysses and thus Penny to Penelope.  It's a long shot at best and difficult to link to the Egyptian mythos.

It's kind of hard to say.  I suppose it might depend on the actor's availability.

OK, so now that it's starting back up, can we all agree to wait on discussing stuff after the episode is shown here on Fridays?  So it's only three days the USA people have to wait.  I really enjoyed everyone's theories last year, and finally after being such loyal fans we get answers!  YAY!
