I liked Gregory's Girl.  I don't think anyone has mentioned that one?

The only redeeming quality that "Love Actually" has is the performance of Bill Nighy.

That reminds me....."Still Crazy"....absolutely brilliant! If you thought he was good in "Love Actually" then watch this!
It's about a 70's rock band that decide to get back together.

I Capture the Castle, but read the book first.

This is on our Tesco DVD list, but they won't send it!!!  They keep sending other things from lower on the list!  It's really annoying because I loved that book and I really want to see the movie!
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

Has anyone said -
A matter of life and death,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038733/ [nofollow]
It has a certain relevance for anglo-american relations. It always make me cry at the end.
Also I suppose I should say
Goldfinger

I watched this old film in Lit class once called Impromptu that was pretty good, though a bit silly. Lots of notable names.

Jewlz, I got one for you:

The Grass Is Greener

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053877/

From the featured user comment:

Quote
How fortunate to have four full-fledged stars take on the leading roles. What is Robert Mitchum doing in an English castle, interacting with "upper class royalty"?

For one thing, he plays a Texas millionaire--an impressive entree most places. Then, the rest of the cast are all transported Brits, so long established in America as to be de facto Americans. They can still deliver their clipped English lines, thought, with great flair.

("So, now you're a millionare, and I'm growing mushrooms . . . oh well, that's the way the world wags.")

Deborah Kerr is bright and vulnerable, Jean Simmons, pert and sophisticated, Robert Mitchum, cool and crafty, and Cary Grant urbane and witty. It's fun to see this quartet trading double entendres and quaint quips.

Stanley Donnen does his best with a stagy script, relying on his experienced cast to carry off the humor and action. It succeeds nicely, and its downright fun to follow their stylish jousts.

Tea, brandy, or champagne?

I recorded it on the V+ box last month and just got around to watching it last night....

Local Hero is lovely, quirky Bill Forsyth stuff....

Ah, Impromptu. The movie that starred (somewhat inexplicably) Hugh Grant as Frederic Chopin. I suppose they did both have vaguely foppish hair.
If we called them Sad Meals, no one would buy them.

HA! I'm just shocked anyone else has seen it!  :D

I also liked Vera Drake and Notes on a Scandal.

"hot fuzz" can't help it. That movie makes me happy. Still turn my head at the gruesome bits, tho.  Can not wait for the final installment of "blood and icecream".

We saw Looking for Eric recently, and I really liked it (despite it having a little bit of a silly, improbable ending).

My favorite line was during a scene when one of the characters is having a hard time organizing his friends during a trip to a football match, and one of the friends says something to the effect of "This is chaos!  We're like the Yanks in Baghdad!"
