You know what I have noticed here?  I think people dress up a bit more to go out (to dinner, or to a bar, wherever) than they did  Not that I was all clubbing it up at Tenjune or anything, but my standard of jeans, nice shoes and the ever-present black shirt seems more dressed down than what I see the girls wear out.

When I was at uni I could always tell Americans because they wore their PJs to breakfast at the halls.   ;D

I wouldn't do it personally but uh.. each to their own I guess??

When I used to fly in and out of the country 2-3 times a week, I wore pajamas to the airport.  I didn't care i was flying business or first class wearing pajamas (and still don't).  If you wear a suit, they get crinkled from the seats and really who wants to be uncomfortable on a plane for 10+ hours?

My secret fear is that airport security is going to become such that you will arrive at the airport wearing whatever and then be herded into changing rooms to don disposable jumpsuits and cardboard slippers for the flight.  Putting your own clothes in your baggage (after inspection).  Paranoia?

I had a pair of bada$$ red velveteen pajama bottoms I used to wear out all the time. They didn't necessarily look like pajama bottoms, though. I wear mine to walk the dog sometimes, but wouldn't wear them anywhere else. I have seen a few people run into the local Co-op in their jammies if it's late at night. I had seen many people in America walking around in house robe, slippers, and hair curlers at the grocery store, which always made me laugh.

No way!  :o  I can't believe that, even though I have seen some very casually dressed people in the US, I never saw anyone out in a house robe.

I once saw a woman in Pasadena, CA in her padded housecoat and slippers, with rollers in her hair. She was at the laundromat doing her laundry. :o

I don't remember ever wearing pjs out of my house, but I can't stand being fully dressed while at home. As soon as I get in the door, the shoes come off, followed by everything else and I change into either a long t-shirt or stretchy shorts/leggings and a t-shirt. I definitely go for comfort. :)

I don't really think there's any "trend" towards wearing pjs in public to be honest. When I've seen anyone doing it, it's usually high school aged girls wearing the pj bottoms which are basically loose, stretchy pants with cartoon characters/bright patterns all over them or something along those lines to Walmart and really I haven't even seen that in the past few years. I can honestly say I've never seen a man in his 50's wearing pjs in public other than in a hospital.

LOL! Me neither! A robe, slippers or curlers in public? Where, oh where do they do that in the US?

I would never wear PJ's or sweats in public. I don't own them so its not an issue.

Slightly off topic, I am glad that I am married to a Brit because I also don't like men in baseball hats (after 4 yrs in the UK, once I moved back I was shocked at seeing them (I never liked them prior to my move). Add white tennis shoes (trainers) and white socks to the equation...yikes  ::)

Ok, I know I may be stretching it there for some...just my preference about casual wear  :)

My Scottish husband wears one if he's not wearing a hooded jacket.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I wore pajama bottoms frequently back in the early 90's.  Heck, I was grunge before it was cool to be grunge! ;)

Man, I miss the 90's sometimes.
