My grandmother just told me that my beloved stateside kitty Miss Lily died.  :\\\'( But oh so much worse than that is the fact that Miss Lily had been dead under my grandmother's bed for a week before she discovered her. I can't remember the last time I heard my grandma cry so hard - she was sobbing into the phone. She somehow thought it was her fault because she didn't look for her under the bed and I could tell she thought I might be upset with her or something when she told me. Hearing her like that broke my heart more than my poor kitty's death ever could. My poor, poor grandma. It's just so awful to think of her seeing that.  :\\\'( :\\\'( :\\\'(

Huge Hugs J..I'm so sorry about your kitty and that your grandmother is so devastated. I don't really have any other words, than I'm so sorry.

Aw, so sorry about your kitty and your grandmother, Jewlz. :(

My kitty still hasn't shown up...I'm heading back south next week, so that's his last chance to show up at my house. There's still a faint hope that he's gone and found a new home, but presumably they would've taken him to the vet (and then his chip would've been scanned and I would get called).

Sorry about your kitty, too. I hope he's ok. Hopefully he was adopted by someone else who didn't know he had an owner.

Thanks, WebyJ and equestrianerd. I'm so upset. I don't even know what to do with myself. I keep crying here and there. I'm sad about my kitty, and I'm so upset for my grandma and for her to be so upset. She really loved Lily and she is so devastated. Plus, all 3 of her old dogs died in the last year, too.  :\\\'(

Hugs, Jewlz. I know how hard it is to take this kind of news from afar. The only thing I can say is that Lily died in a place she felt safe and comfortable. (((hugs)))
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh poor Miss Lily! I'm so sorry Jewlz. You've had a really rough few months but things happen in threes right? So things are bound to get better...

And equestriannred, when our cat vanished in June we had so many people tell us of amazing cat survival stories, they really are resilient animals. And when we found our bosco cowering in a bulkhead of the boat next door four days later, he was absolutely fine despite having not eaten or drank during that time in the midst of the heatwave (ooh remember warmth?). Fingers crossed yours presents himself soon...

Yeah, I've heard of stories of kitties showing up years later, so we'll see. Now that it's been almost 3 weeks, I'm not really expecting him to come back, but I haven't given up all hope, either.

Update: they discharged me late this afternoon, yay! Though I've got to go back tomorrow and Tuesday and the antibiotic I've got yo take for a fortnight is the one you can't have dairy with, so I'm back on the Alpro and Pure for a while. At least the line removal was remarkably pain-free...

Oh thanks. I think the hardest part for her was telling me about it. She seemed ok on the webcam yesterday, and I showed her some photos of Lily when she was a kitten. We talked about her for a bit. She was such a sweet little cat. Never weighed more than 4 pounds, full grown. Not as big as a minute!  ;)
