Oh, I don't blame him, I just wish kitties were a bit more...stoic...sometimes. You'd think after an hour of crying with no results, he'd give up. Being a cat, no way. ;)

He finally made it home and you throw him in the car for 4 hours! That's my cat's idea of hell!!! No wonder he was yelling at you!  ;D So glad he made it home to you!

It's his idea of hell, too. ;) He cries on the 1/4 mile drive to the vet's office, too. I would've let him out of his carrier (which is the part that he hates, I don't think he cares about the car part), but I didn't want his upset tummy to involve cleaning up my entire car.

He had 2 weeks to come home before I did the first 4 1/2 hour drive ;), the fact that he chose to come back when I was leaving the next day is his own fault. :P If he wants to head to England (which, I'm sure if you asked him, he'd say no thanks to the 12+ hours in a carrier), he's got to be up here.

Cat related.  My Mae probably has an abcess brewing in her hind quarters.  With no vehicle, I have to wait until a vet within walking distance opens tomorrow and scramble to get an appt.

I know she's going to be OK until the morning (she's bright and running around) but I just feel bad knowing she's got a hurty.   :(

Thanks everyone.  I just got off the phone with my sister, and Mom has refused to allow people to talk to medical staff.  She tried to tell my sister (who lives down south) that she just had pneumonia.  My sister told her that she already knew it was more than pneumonia.  My other sister is going to set Mom straight as she needs to be able to call because she is working, caring for her kids, and caring for Dad, and can't make it to the hospital every day.  Plus, I am here in the UK, and since I don't have a US number right now (we're going to set up a Skype US # asap), I may need to talk to the hospital to find out how she is doing.

So right now none of us know any more about what's going on.  Hoping for the best.

We've got to decide whether I should go home (we can't afford it, and Mr A def can't come) or wait.  As far as Mom goes, I am worried not only about how she is now, but if she recovers how her quality of life will be, and her chances at things not getting worse.

The skype number is very good for situations like this, and should be really quick to set up...

I have a stubborn mother who let a tumor grow to the size of a canteloupe (benign luckily) before going to the doctor over the pain. In fact, i had to force her then. :( So I know how that can be... Will the hospital give you info over the phone?

That's pretty much how my mom is.  Totally avoids the doctor until things are drawn out into huge medical problems. Last year she had sepsis from not going to the doctor (or telling anyone) about an infection on her leg.  Then before that she had a major stomach hernia which could have been anything, really.  She didn't go to the DR for almost a year.

The hospital won't give out info over the phone because she has given them instructions not to do so.  So, none of us, including my sister who lives with them, can get information from them over the phone.

That sister said mom wasn't thinking straight when she went into the hospital because of the decreased oxygen.  It's a 35-45 minute drive to the hospital, and mom refused to go without taking a shower first.  Luckily, they were able to give oxygen in the rescue squad.  So this lack of oxygen and the fact she is really still recovering from sepsis probably makes her natural stubborn tendencies even worse.

So sorry to hear about your Mom, Legs. I hate it when grown-ups are so stubborn, too! Hope she feels better soon and stops being stubborn with you and your sister.
