For those interested...I'm not starving myself or on some sort of weird diet.

My diet has done a radical change and I'm following the suggested caloric intake of 1700 per day. And FoodFocus is projecting a 2lb week loss. However, I have a very active 2 year old and I don't count all the running around & playing I do with her as exercise.

I used to drink loads of Dr Pepper & Pepsi for a quick source of energy and some days ended up drinking 2L a day...so I've completely cut out the fizzy drink and have switched to water of which I drink 2L a day. I'm also eating more fresh fruit & veg with more fish and trying to limit the amount of processed foods.

All of this has been done under the advice of my GP and I have an appointment with them at the end of the month to see what my official progress has been.

Congrats Weby.

I'm as always doing well on the exercise (I get an average of 70 minutes of hard cardio 5 days per week) and down about half the weight I want to lose.  Now I just need to buckle down on the little things, as I think that's what is slowing me down.  Like no sugar in coffee or tea or a small soda or things like that.  I feel like my body is resistant to losing these last few pounds and I need some way to kickstart it!

I think you sometimes get big weight loss when you change diet just because your body is sort of shocked into it.  Generally, slower weight loss is recommended simply because you are less likely to yo-yo (which has health consequences) and because you learn better habits than cycling between pigging out and eating dramatically less than your calorie requirements.

I think this is true. My friend lost 100 pounds in one year on the Atkins diet a few years ago, but after a couple of years of doing hardcore Atkins (he didn't really eat any veg or anything like the diet suggests now) he became really, really got sick of meat. He went vegetarian instead (and still monitored carbs) and he has started dropping loads of weight again after kind of stalling out on the Atkins for a while. I think most drastic changes like that will cause you to lose weight.

One thing about rapid weight loss (as in his case) is that sometimes it comes with other problems that are harder to solve - like loose, saggy skin and stretch marks. My friend had a lot of loose skin for a few years, though it did eventually tighten up on its own without surgery.

Well, I am totally having to stick to a strict diet the next couple of months as we've booked tickets to visit the States.  I want to look good plus I want to be comfortable flying.  On our US-bound flight we couldn't book seats together, I want the most wiggle room possible (not to mention I don't want any of me going outside my seat boundaries).

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate to fly?

You couldn't book them but if you call and ask really nicely they might help...
We just booked out flights and I couldn't do seats on line - I called and I say look I get weird in the back of the plane I need room to see in front and breathe aka bulkhead ect.. Wham no problem ma'am and the produce seats for us.

Its funny when I was younger I didn't get weird and it isn't really full blown claustrophobia but I HATE stress HATE when everyone stands up - SIT down people it will take time for all the people in front of you to exit first! <sorry quick rant>

As for working out - I can barely lift my arms from the shred thing and the extras I do while watching TV...I am doing sit ups in bed WTH? I figure why not I have the time..

Piece of cake to solve. Most airlines will let you switch seats when you check in if you happen to get there really early before lots of other people happen to check in for the same flight. It's happen to me loads of time and I've always been able to have the seats switched. Once I was checking in for a flight about 20 minutes before they closed the check in and my seat had been moved (I was flying alone) and when I asked the agent they said that even though you pick seats online when you purchase your ticket it's not really yours until you actually check in. So get there early!

I would call and have the seats changed and then do the early online check in so the seats are locked in.  Hopefully that helps.  Good luck with the working out, will happily keep checking in with you to help with motivation, as I have a month before heading home for a wedding and I am too working out/dieting to ensure I look good as well.

As for me, the shread second level is killing my shoulders and back, I took two days off to let the muscles repair themselves and will start it up again today.  I have stuck to the diet, minus the days I am with the boyfriend (hard to eat small and healthy when he cooks... mmmhmmmm homemade mac and cheese)

Still doing 30 day shred and I am seriously out of shape...I am out of breath after 1 min of cardio but I keep going.
As for push up I do them against a wall since it isn't as bad on my wrists.

<phew> If I can keep this up 4X a week I will be excited.
Problem I have is eating in the morining as I prefer coffee and no food...I know I know I should eat but all I want is carbs..toast..oatmeal...bagel

I am a carb muncher at any given time and it doesn't help since it is almost my time of the month

Whats wrong with oatmeal & toast for breakfast? my dietitian & trainer both say that is a good healthy breakfast I only know that cause I asked them in case I get burned out on my cereal & orange I have every morning. The only thing I can think of is if your on a low carb diet.  ;)  ???

My Wii Fit tried to say the last 2 morning I have put on a 1lb each day  >:(  :o  I don't think so not with the grueling 2 hour routine I have been doing at the gym & I have been eating super healthy meals this week.   ::) :P

I agree with shugga--oatmeal especially is super healthy complex carbs and very filling, too!
