I don't know if it's set in Northern Ireland or ROI, but there's also Waking Ned Devine... gorgeous scenery, wacky story.  :)

I'd probably just suggest BBC America - particularly dramas and soaps which can give quite a good representation of life in the uk...certainly more so than Doctor Who  :)

Be careful showing her movies about England - she'll be wondering where the red phone boxes are when she comes over!  ;D

There are some....I mean, most of the phone booths are glass BT boxes, but I did see several red phone boxes in my travels.

And there's a police box in Leicester ;)

That was actually filmed here on the Isle of Man in a historical village called Cregneash... ;D the white pony was my step daughters!!

I was going to suggest that film in the beginning of this thread..but that isn't what it looks like here..the village is part of the IOM Government museum sites... :)

Well, that is interesting!  I saw 'Waking Ned' on TV in the US years ago and have always wanted to see it again...it just jumped higher on my list.  Someday, I hope to get to the Isle of Man for a visit.

James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small (TV series is far better than the film, imo) gives a good impression of the Yorkshire Dales even if from a rather different time period.

I also like Crush, which was filmed in Chipping Campden (my favorite English village) and other locations in the Cotswolds. Plus Waterland, which gives a rather evocative feeling about the Fens of East Anglia.

My mom's been tasked with getting a picture of one for a friend of hers.  I offered a picture I took in Newark, but my mom wants to take her own.

Oooh, English countryside AND animals. WIN!

There is a piece of street art in Kingston Upon Thames called 'Out of Order', maybe thats where all the boxes went..

scroll to bottom of page http://www.unicornkiosks.com/

If you want your own box you can buy one from this company too, i have a friend who has one in her garden as an outdoor shower near their pool  ;D

::)

I'm willing to give Becca's mom the benefit of the doubt and assume that she can differentiate truth from fiction, and thus won't be expecting life in Britain to be the same now as it was in Austen or Waugh's day, or that it will be the same in reality as it is presented in fiction.  Just as I'm assuming that she won't expect the police box in Leicester to be bigger on the inside.
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

No need to roll your eyes...it was just a joke.  I really don't think Britwife was having a go at you. :)  However, I do agree that Becca's mom will be able to tell the difference between truth and fiction. :)
