I went with Mrs--I quite like being referred to Mrs after 24 years as Ms, and I don't mind when I get stuff titled to Mr and Mrs HusbandsFirstName Parrington either :)

My work colleague says she prefers to always be a Miss, which is why she will never marry her partner, even though they have lived together for over 20 years.  :) Maybe staying a Miss keeps you young?

LOL!!!

I love how the 'Misses' are being attacked for getting worked up, when if you have a look you'll see that someone people chose Miss, some Mrs, some Ms, one Master (!), a few Mistresses, etc.!

Anyone else? We don't have any Drs yet!

*ahem*

Just found this thread - really interesting!

I was Miss till I got married the first time then (being a fervent feminist at the time) became Ms (my own surname) - this really up set my FIL!.  Then got divorced and stayed Ms (own surname), began living with someone and had a child (with his surname) so changed my name by deed poll to Ms (his surname).  Finally I got married to him and began calling myself Mrs (his surname) - perhaps I didn't feel I had to display my feminist inclinations?  The culture had changed? Felt more married this time?  Didn't care any longer???

It is usual in the UK to use Miss for any single lady of any age unless they request Ms.  At work I use Miss or Mrs if I'm sure of someones marital status and use Ms if I'm not sure or know that's what they prefer.  It's about making them comfortable not me!

And yes, small children call all their teachers Miss no matter what their marital status or name!

As as aside, when we lived in Memphis 2000-2003 the other moms in the area all liked to be called Miss (first name) and the husbands Mr (first name).  I couldn't speak about elsewhere in the US though.

I've been called Ms/Miss/Mrs and I've honestly never minded.  I feel like I'm all of those things.  I work with children, who routinely get these things wrong anyway.

I don't really mind how people address my mail either, as long as it's not profane  ;).  If I were giving somebody my address I would write my first and last name without any title because that's what feels the most like me.  But if somebody added a Ms, or a Miss, or a Mrs that would be fine.  When addressing mail to others I try to use what I think they prefer but I'm sure I get it wrong sometimes.

I love Master!  So jealous that Josh is addressed this way!!!!

When we have clients who are male minors, we have to call them Master Lastname. I think it's cute. Some little three year old out there is being called Master.

I make sure people know I'm a Mrs only because Ashley can be a boys name here and I've received quite a bit of post in the past addressed to Mr Ashley.

That I might mind.

... Mr and Mrs HusbandsFirstName Parrington ...

There's not much point in being coy about your husband's first name, I think we all know what it is  ;)

I don't mind this either, it's how we worded the invitations to our reception. "Mr and Mrs HusbandsFirstName Lastname request the honour of your presence...."  But then, I've been married less than a year, perhaps it's just the novelty.

I think madam historyenne is poking fun at me since earlier this year I commonly referred to the hubby in the visa boards a *lot* by his first name. Nasty habit it was, something I've tried to stop doing :)

I try and go without using a title whenever possible, I don't really like any of them. I'm too lazy to do a PhD or I'd go with Dr.
